That is not my point. It is that Jimy is as much of a GUT feel manager as Dierker. I agree that Dierker had lost some of the clubhouse, but I would have kept Larry and gotten rid of the clubhouse lawyer Biggio. I just don't feel that Jimy Williams is all that great, he seems average to me. Yes, the Yankees are in his division, but he had a MASSIVE payroll and still couldn't get it done. And here in Houston, he has been average at best. DD
Now you are getting down to it. Williams may or may not be the problem. If he is a problem to the "leaders" in the clubhouse then Drayton has to get a clue. If Biggio and whoever are not getting it done at the plate, again, then how many more managers do we go through before Biggio retires. Biggio and Bagwell have been great players but will always have the big IF associated with them. That if is that they could throw out a stinker against a mediocre or inconsistent pitcher with regularity. The team around them changed over the years, but the ability of the team offense to have people shaking their heads over the inconsistency has remained. The numbers have been there but the results have not. Looking like another year of the same. The Cubs definitely have the starters to finish this thing out. Sosa, while no Bonds, is like Bagwell in that he can carry the team for periods and he is heating up. Likewise Alou. Not looking good.
Will Craig Biggio be better than Dierk or Williams? I cannot see into my crystalized ball, but it would take age out of Center and put juice fan's fannies into Drayton's seats. Yes, because lots of people would start coming to games to see Biggio as our manager.
