That's a hell of a conspiracy theory, Carl!!!

LOL, I didn't know the relationship connection, but if you are correct, my dislike for Kevin as a "coach" has increased. Clarkson is going to be a great player.

    Nick? Well...

I look at Kevin's wife's Twitter page from time to time, and she is one loony toon. Maybe she gave Kev basketball-related advice, or the "clapping" strategy of making players play..."harder.";)

Lots of Laker fans love Clarkson's offense but hate his defense (lack thereof). Also, some think he should be a SG instead of a PG.

These 2nd round picks are hard to nail. You have to get lucky to pan out. Nick Johnson had the high level athleticism, so I guess it was worth taking a chance on him developing a jump shot and becoming useful-- which he hasn't yet. We'll see, it took some guys a while to find their way back to the NBA. Isn't Johnson in the D-League now?

I was curious to see what a blacker than black dunk looked like, and if that's it then I'm thoroughly disappointed.

Jeez, y'all please don't go BigTexx on us in the NBA Dish.
I guess since Malakas is in Europe(I think) it's a little more understandable that he didn't understand what Clarkson and Kobe meant.

It had zero to do with white and black. It's purely the banter between light skinned black folk and dark skinned black folk. Dark skinned black dudes like to joke that light skinned black dudes are soft and prissy. Like Prince, Shemar Moore, Drake, etc. Light skinned black dudes have their own jokes about darker skinned black dudes. It's. Just. Banter.

Yea, it's not really a race thing. It's within the black community. The same joking around goes with light-skinned guys that are not mixed race. Also, brown skin black guys joke about both light and dark skinned guys.

I can understand why non-black people wouldn't get it though.

Fine. To my european ears it sounds purely racistic and im still not convinced that it hasnt racistic elements that just have become smh acceptable like for example sick rape or sexist jokes that so called comedians make but as i always believe one should not judge so easilly anothers culture when they are not part of it.
    Thanx for explaining.

Do 'light skin' guys ever fire back? And if so - how? Can someone give me an example?

If darker guys are just hassling lighter guys for having mixed race parents - that's racism. Not just 'banter.'

But then again - I'm just a presumed racist and sexist white hetero male - so what would I know about anything..

The stereotype is usually that the light-skinned guy is the pretty boy and the dark guy is the tough guy. So, the light-skinned guy could make a joke about taking the dark guy's girlfriend or make one of the "you're so black (or dark)" jokes.

Also, like I mentioned before. The joking is not particularly towards mixed race light skinned guys. For instance, 2 of my cousins used to joke back and forth. The dark skinned one was half mexican and the light skinned one had both black parents. Growing up all of my friends and family did the same thing, most had both black parents.

I think part of the confusion stems from some non-black people thinking that all light-skinned black people are mixed race.

Dude, those are actually meaner than the light skin jokes, as pmac already mentioned how they go... but both sides take it on the chin and let it be because It's. Just. Banter regardless of what you might think of it.
It has little to do with having mixed race parents. Some black people just have really light skinned parents(I know a few light skinned West Africans with parents equally light skinned) and they get the jokes at their expense as well and they give it back. Like pmac said, not all light skinned black people are mixed race.

Why are you a presumed racist and sexist (white hetero male)? Did I miss something?

Gold? To who? A racist idiot individual? This is disgraceful and a disgusting problem in the African American community that must be addressed to cure this awful cancer.

We are Moorish Americans and we need to seriously regain cultural respect and dignity. For the 99.99% of the brainwashed ppl in this forum go do some googling and educate yourself.

Kobe isnt from America, he has that African American athlete priveladge so its no surprise.
