If the Rockets sign Harrell to anything above the rookie minimum (or for three or more years), a hard cap will be imposed. Nothing has changed in that regard. All this [Wood signing with the Sixers] does is give the Rockets a little bit more breathing room (whatever Wood's partial guarantee would've been) below a potential hard cap. Even if Harrell gets the minimum and there's no hard cap, this move saves the Rockets about 250-275% of Wood's partial guarantee amount in combined salary and luxury tax.

Wait - what do the Sixers want Elton Brand for? That's real weird. Sixers giving up on potential in favor of a washed up vet? I just don't even understand it.
Think the owner is fed up with their embarassing performances and finally wants to establish a winning culture, the recent staff moves heavily indicate it.
Yup. Is anybody on that roster even over like 21, other than Landry? I don't think this is a terrible idea.
They tattooed a winning less culture and now they're trying to remove it with soap?? Who the hell runs this team? Morey?
Brand has a great work ethic and they have 3 high lotto picks who are still developing, all of whom are big men. They need someone like Brand in practices to show these guys how to work. Sixers continue to impress me with their strategy. This is the perfect time to do everything they're doing, although the way it happened was not according to their plan, they were kind of forced by external pressures. Hinkie would have been wrong to wait any longer to bring veteran leadership into the fold. With the new injection to management, coaching and locker room these guys will start to grow. Look at how much better Noel plays with a real passer in Ish Smith. Okafor is learning how to apply his skills within a team - which means a dip in his stats, but and improvement in his team impact. I', also certain we'll see Embiid play this season FINALLY. Even if it's for a 2-3 games. Players like Wood are a dime a dozen. Having Landry and Brand pushing Noel and Okafor around is important.
I can see the Sixers pushing to hire Elton Brand when he finally decides to retire. They're going to need to establish a player friendly staff to develop all these young minds.
