I know it's a little early to start a thread about the off-season, but with the way the season is progressing, it's clear that it's not just a coaching issue, but also a personnel problem with this team. Even if we do make the playoffs (which I think we will) in a weakened Western Conference, I wouldn't bet on us to win the championship this year. With that said, who are the untouchable players on this team that we won't consider trading by the deadline or in the offseason? Who do we build around on this team for the next few seasons while Harden is still in his prime? Outside of Capela and his contract, I don't know who else I'd really consider "untradeable".
Harden + Howard + Capela + Dmo + Ariza These can only be traded if an AMAZING deal comes available this year Lawson + Beverly + Terry + most of the rest can be had for the right price TJones + Brewer <--- ones I would probably be actively trying to deal Jones mainly because he has some value and could get me a good peice Brewer because last night sealed me .. .that isht was ridiculous Either play smarter and more under control or BE OUT!!! Rocket River
Adding the JVG/Thibs era btw: your last one isn't Jones. That's Larry Smith as interim for a sick Rudy
Ah! My bad. Ziggy covering all the bases! Who filled in for McHale when he had to go to his daughter's funeral, right? We need to add that to the list.
I agree, no reason to trade them, everyone else outside of Howard I'd move in a heartbeat if the right deal came along. I would not shop Howard, but I'd listen to offers.
What amazing deal would possible come up for Harden? Just curiouse. When stars get traded the team trading the star is the one that always gets the short end of the stick. Every tema aquiring the star goes on to atleast Make the playoffs. Lakers with dwight Melo with the Knicks Even deron Williams with Brooklyn. Now what is the common theme of the teams trading those stars? Non has made the playoffs yet. I take that back Denver had a nice run one year with iggy/ty in George Karl's last year there. But you get my point. You can't trade Harden unless you just want to blow it up and start over and I really don't Understand why Les/morey or even us would want to do that. It's better to try and surround JH and to a lesser degree DH with new talent. One thing that can't be denied is our role players are very inconsistent, this imo is because they lack talent. The guys surround h&h are not great baskeball players. The only ones that our rotaion worthy are bev/ariza/dmo/capela and all are just bench players. You can get away with one being in your starting lineup but not 3 of them which is what it is currently. I like ty and think we need to start him again. It's time to just roll out your best most talented players and see were this takes u. Bev is overrated on defense, he is a good rebounder I'll give him that but right now we just need talent on the floor.
For the right deal everyone is expendable outside of Harden and Howard IMO. If Morey could add another All Star caliber player while keeping both Harden and Howard he won't hesitate to pull the trigger with his trade history.
