Because defense is a team concept. Look at the box score and see who didn't grab any rebounds or only a few. Because all you care about is DMo. I care about the team, and when I look at the rebounding, turnovers, and the overall defense; those are the issues that have plagued this Rocket season and the few before it. Again.... I don't disagree with giving DMo more touches in the late game. I just care more about the core causes of the Rockets losing....
He had a decent rebounding outing, a small plus but not the real difference maker in the clutch. Decent game. He also was not responsible for the loss.
So then stop playing Howard based on the data you presented? Christ, I care more about the issues that have consistently plagued the team while some of y'all care more about DMo.
Gives the team a higher chance of winning when they get into situations like tonight when they can't get buckets and opt for streetball.
Not playing Howard would have been a good idea actually. Not only was he killing them with the missed FT's but he was also one of the worst players on the court defensively. Pretty much everyone he was on scored at will. I know it sounds weird because usually he's pretty good....he just wasn't tonight. His stat line looks good though, sort of like a Harden game where he scores a lot and plays no defense.
I get that people are impatient, but it's just downright silly the DMOFs..... Let the man get back to full health and keep a level head on your shoulders... People act like DMo was averaging 20 pts a game last season with Howard injured. DMo has real talent and let him build up to it as he comes back from a severe injury.
Right on the money. He is decent, an NBA player for sure but nothing special at this moment. Other than that he has great size that he did not use to bully other players. Will he ever be? He is 25 and I know big men are late bloomers but the best you can get out of a 21st or any other 20ish round pick (other than TP and Rondo)would be an 1 time allstar. I am skeptic.
I care about the issues that constantly plague this team. Inability to run a half court set, which D-mo can help with. And an inability to play good team defense, which D-mo can also help with. Although Capela and Howard aren't usually the problem in that regard, this was an isolated struggle. D-Mo has had a positive +/- in the last 4 games he actually played significant minutes, he usually helps the team, and should be getting 25-30 MPG. An his rebounding rarely hurts us, like some seem to suggest.
A lot of folks thought otherwise. Too much "savior praise" when he was gone/out "Wait 'til D-Mo gets back! Wait 'til D-Mo gets back!" "D-Mo's gonna save us/turn around the season! D-Mo's gonna save us/turn around the season!" Now that he predictably & unfairly hasn't lived up to savior status (yet), now some are angry.
First of all, I never held Jones' performance against Aldridge against him (b/c I considered Jones to be a below average role player). That being said, there's a difference between Millsap scoring a few baskets against DMo and Aldridge averaging 37 pts on 52% shooting for a series (those are his stats from the Portland victories). And let's not act like DMo was a revolving door tonight. I remember him blocking Millsap, stealing the ball from him, and drawing a charging foul.
Maybe. Maybe a Capela/DMo front court to end the game would have won tonight... My main point is that we got bigger issues than DMo's touches.
Incorrect. We're annoyed b/c his greatest strength is his post offense, and he isn't getting those opportunities. And meanwhile, we're losing games that we should be winning.
Lol Terrence was 21 years old and sure he is no allstar but to blame it all one a young player without much playoff experience? How do you like to be picked when you were an intern? Sure TJones is not as great as I thought he might be but he isn't below average, he proved he can be average.
