Forget Thornton, is DMo in JB's doghouse? If so, why?

In the context of this season with DMo returning from a back injury, with the addition of how DMo has played of late compared to Jones: No.

Consistent defense is more of a concern against good teams. Against teams like the Pelicans, we should be able to play mediocre defense and still win.

If this were true, you'd know that DMo had a very solid game against the Pelicans. His only mistake was that one errant pass, but aside from that, his activity level was good, his defensive rotations were good, and his shot contesting was good.

Our offense needs more attention than our defense. We only have one shot creator who goes into prolonged periods of hero-ball, and most of our rotational players don't know their roles:

Dwight wants to post up even though he's horrible at it.

Brewer can barely dribble yet tries to run fast breaks and beat his man off the dribble.

Jones is a forward who thinks he's a guard (trying to take people off the dribble and finish with finesse layups).

Lawson was brought here for his play-making abilities, but he thinks he always has to defer to Harden.

This has not been the case since Lawson came back from his 2 game suspension.

And Jones does not bring the ball up the court like that. In the last 4 or 5 game he probably only brought it up 4 times. And that was only during a fast break situation.

Brewer is trying to run a 1 on 3 fast break. He really needs to contain his motor sometimes.

Dwight is not begging for the in the post like that. Yes he wants his touches but normally he gets the ball and pass it back out. Ole said quite of few times that Harden was looking to repost him but he went to set the pick or bailed out to allow Harden to go to work. When he dives to the goal is when he's calling for the ball. Unfortunately whoever has the ball sometimes doesn't see him or can't get him the ball.

Yes Dmo played some solid minutes but I guess it wasn't enough. If it was JBB would've played him more.

The Pelicans are simply a crappier version of ourselves, generally speaking. Above average offense (8th) with crap defense (29th) so we needed to play good defense them, generally speaking.

We need to play consistent defense period if we want to stop looking like fools.

I simply think he looks a step slower after putting up +15 minutes on a handful on consecutive games. I think he'll be fine in a few weeks.

I will just say I agree to disagree in regards to that. I think our offense is a concern, but that defense is the underlying issue this season. I believe we can fix the defense with the players we have but the offense will require DMo and an above average PG to relieve Harden's staggering offense usage (maybe Lawson can become that guard or we need to acquire it).

So in context, you'd want more minutes to the worst defensive big man on the roster? That's odd. Sounds a lot like you're just a biased Jones fan.

Did JBB say why DMo is playing 6 minutes in last 3 games? Did anyone even ask?

When I went to the Clippers - Rockets game I noticed when D-Mo got subbed out in the first half he got really pissed and the assistants had to seperate D-Mo from JB. D-Mo was playing really good when he was in and was wondering why he was subbed.

Take that for what it is worth. I do not know if the TV cameras picked it up.

See this is the problem, he knows he is much better than those on the floor, and if the rox want to keep him, they need to start playing him more.

Dallas, LA Lakers, San Antonio, Toronto and Detroit will all be suitors for Dmo in the off-season is what I'm hearing from the same people that told McHale would be fired if he did not turn it around early. Dmo is fond of San Antonio and Toronto.

Guy grabbed 6 rebounds on 28 minutes a game last year. it isn't like he was dogging it out there.

I dont believe in ur sources but detroit is plain as day that it will go after one of our rfa. They should prefer jones but dmo will do too.
    No doubt about dallas either.
But toronto will have to see what it will do with derozan and if they pay him 20+ mil per dont see how they will want to spend much in a pf as well.

I always thought Toronto would make sense for him. Many Euros like Toronto, plus they have Valanciunas his fellow countryman there already. (He idolized Scola who's also there at the moment, but on a one-year contract.)

Detroit also makes sense for him.

I can only hope San Antonio wouldn't be able to outbid us, although I wonder if he would have much of a role there. I don't suspect David West kissed all that money goodbye this year without some sort of handshake agreement for more cash next season.

If we dont want to be outbid then we must have a clear plan. If we wait for durant and dwight and go with TWO rfas then its an invitation for every other team to screw us.
The good thing is that the moratorium lasts i think 12 days next summer.

If there's a plan, it probably involves:

    • Clearing some of our current players('s salaries) from the roster
    • Hoping Dwight either leaves "on his own accord" or is convinced to sign at a rate that leaves sufficient cap space (whatever that may be)
    • Snagging Kevin Durant with cap space (that's the big one and I'm hoping Morey doesn't put all his eggs in one basket because we haven't exactly shown ourselves to be a s***-hot destination)
    • Signing DMo for his inflated new-TV-contract money after Durant is in the bag

IF some other star somehow falls into our lap before the Durant Pie-in-the-Sky Chase, then scratch the "plan".

Don't write "LMFAO at getting Durant" because I would be the first to believe Kevin Durant has better options next summer, such as staying put.

It's not first time I heard that scenario, definitely make sense. Only questions, does KD want to come to this situation..

Exactly. We would need to show a lot more than Team Turmoil for him to consider us.

Brewer needs assets to be cleared.
Point two second part is the pipedream here. Dwight sign for cheaper than his market value which will be more than 20+ per.

Whatever happens others will strike because we will be vulnerable and our rfas will be judged with enough probabillity to not be matched a max for it to be worth it for other teams to bind their money for two days.

No, I just don't think TJones is total garbage like you where "he can't competently guard any PF in the league".

I deal with reality, not hyperbole.

That's your shtick across 3 fan sites.... Not mine. And you get called out for it where ever you go.
