I installed the google toolbar after reading posts from people recomending it. I use it to block pop ups, but there has been a bit of a flaw with it so far for me. It changes my hompage to a global search page, or makes it blank. It is driving me nuts. Is there an options some where to keep this from happening?
It's working well for me and kicking pop-up butt. Just go to your Explorer icon on your desktop, right click, select properties, put in the address of the homepage you want, click apply and your back.
It's because Internet Explorer sucks . . . <a href="http://texturizer.net/firebird/">Use Mozilla Firebird instead</a>
I know how to set my homepage back in IE options, but it is annoying. It does it like every other day. I think it is the Google toolbar, since I have not installed/downloaded anything else since that. If it happens again i will uninstall the Google Toolbar, and wait and see if it still happens...then reinstall it.....cause i hate pop ups.
Is Mozilla Firebird really good? Are there any conflicts, like websites etc. not working correctly because they "need" Netscape version *** or IE version***? ***=blah blah...dont want to think about versions... Or does it run with out these problems?
nevermind...answered my own questions... Known Issues This list covers some of the known problems with Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1. Please read this before reporting any new bugs, and watch it regularly (we'll update it as new bugs are found in the release). Mozilla Firebird utilizes large chunks of Mozilla Application Suite code. Many of the problems you may experience in Mozilla Firebird are actually problems in this Mozilla core code. If you find a problem with page content or connectivity then it is probably a Mozilla problem and should be reported to the Browser product in Bugzilla, not to the Mozilla Firebird product. Menus and folders on the bookmark toolbar do not always collapse correctly for Mozilla Firebird users on Windows. The "Don't ask at startup" checkbox in the Profile Manager is not working. "Use this theme" checkbox in theme install doesn't function properly and you may have to switch themes by going to Tools > Options > Themes. Also, some themes will not completely switch without a restart. Disabling of form auto-completion is not working. Firebird on Mac OS X is new and still very rough around the edges. Expect platform inconsistencies
The only problems I've had with it is the few websites that ONLY work with IE, although I've only hit one in the past 3 weeks, and then on TVGuide.com, one of the buttons doesn't work, which is odd because I never had a problem with regular Mozilla . . . Bugs in the application -- I haven't experienced any. Firebird IS that good. I'm recommending it to everyone b/c I like it so much.
That's very good to know. I've been very curious about Mozilla for a long time. Thanks for the tips, guys.
sounds like a browser hi-jack... some kind of spyware. I would recommend SpyBot Search & Destroy! Read up on it and then consider using it.
Came across this <a href="http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1458">guide to spyware protection and removal</a> just now . . . figured some here might be able to use it . . .
