For example, look at what happened in Game 6 of that Portland series with .6 seconds left and a 2 point lead.
Odd that the Hornets shot 35% to the Rockets 46%, were out re-bounded by 14 and yet were a non-goal tending call (on the Zeller dunk) and 2 missed free throws by Lin away from possibly beating the Rockets at the Toyota Center.
Lin had as many points and more assists than Bev and Terry combined in less than half the playing time.
Doesn't matter how many good games you have, Lin was too hard to depend on the way he swings, it's a bad thing. People value are role players that play their roles well consistently instead of highs an lows like Lin. It's no big deal really, that's the type of player he is, there's plenty out there, JR Smith, Jamal Crawford etc.
oh yeah? Who else they picked up in FA this year? Batum was a trade. Lamb was a trade. I mean sure if you compare him to Tyler Hansbrough or that Harrison kid they picked up off d-league he sure is the most important FA pickup this summer.
It's quite sad actually that in a bad shooting night Lin was the one who cost his team the game by chocking.
Truth is that while Lamb started off gangbusters, Lin has supplanted him as the primary guy off the bench. Batum has been a great pickup but Lin has also stepped up his game this month while Batum has been struggling. Since December Lin is shooting significantly better than both and averages less than 2 TO's per game. He plays good D and typically finishes games now which is all you can ask for from your backup PG.
Sorry, you are correct. Jordan said that Jeremy was the Hornets' "biggest acquisition". So not just FA pickup...
I'll argue that Lin was one of the reasons they were in the game at all. He put up 13 points and 5 assists in the 2nd half. He definitely choked at the end though, I won't give him a pass on that.
It was not like Lin's FTs would tie the game or take the lead. Down 4 pts with 17 secs to go, Hornets would have still have lost if Rox made FTs. Yes, Lin choked on these two FTs, but it was not the reason Hornets lost. The horrible shooting cost them this game
Yep...overall the Hornets as a team did not played well until lin got hot in the 4th quarter and got them back in the game. We did not played well too...we won die to Harden, TJ and BP.
Only using +/- as a statistical tool to judge a player performance in ONE night is as ****ty of a take as calling Matt Bonner one of the best NBA big man in his peak since he was the KING of +/- in those Spurs teams, at times even better than Duncan.
Batum is the best defender of this team now that MKG is out (when he's coming back? I think Hornets will make the post season so it might be important if he can make it back in April or so). and he's one of the best playmakers in this team. Good for lin but to say that Batum isn't a bigger factor.. Maybe he takes into account contract and what you had to give up. If someone had to give up for Lin , their previous first round pick and be prepared to pay him a max next season, doubt they would say anything like it. But if they could pick up Batum by trading nothing and pay him 2 mil per then WOOHOO. Sure. But a choke is a choke. In the end the one who cost them the match were the FTs. Agreed. But who was the reason in the end that the Hornets..lost. We are not talking about the Rockets here, we are talking about the team of the Hornets. Down 4 pnts with 17 secs to go teams win games. I haven't had the opportunity to watch a lot of Hornets game apart from the blowout against the Bulls (i am a bull hater) so I was dissapointed. In contrast to people here I like the Hornets and I want to watch how they got their wins. I respect the coach and how he has completely changed his system in only one year while maintaining the defence and I am surprised by Kemba and Lin's improvement this year and Batum contract year perfomance.
Learn how to read lin fan. We all know jordan is the owner. I clearly stated playoff analogy. But lin fans don't know what that means
