    I peed purple today!

I'm an old Atkins hand back on it after a wonderful summer of sloth. Starting at 5'9" and 195lbs.

I'll do 6 weeks of very strict Atkins, take a quick break for Octoberfest at Rudi Leckners, then back on till Thanksgiving.
I'm pretty sure I can get down to 180 but we'll see how low I can go before Turkeyday.

Is the can of tuna in oil a better choice than the can of tuna in water for cholesterol? What kind of oil is that?

Rookie dieter here, anybody know where most of the weight comes off at first? Ive losted 30 pounds in a little bit over a month (225 now 195 6'3) ...Ive noticed a big difference in the thigh area, but stomatch looks no different than a month ago. All I really care about is the stomach area and its pretty frustrating that its not going down depsite all the weight ive lost. Anybody else experience this?. Is this normal for somebody losing weight?...Sorry not really atkins related but didnt feel this desereved its own thread

Atkins brand products are not for newbies.

I avoided the Atkins brand candies and bread for weeks and weeks before I gradually started to use them.

Once you forget how regular sugar and starches taste.. it actually taste GOOD to you.

Same thing with sugar free drinks.

Try the Fla-Vor-Ice sugar free popsicles. Only 1 carb. They are the kind you freeze yourself. The Atkins shakes that are pre-made are good, but the ones you make yourself suck. I also like the Atkins brand bars, the other brands are no good.

There really is no such things as good cholesterol you can ingest.

However mono unsaturated fats are the good fats and I think generally the more the merrier--and are highest in olive oil, almonds and avocado off the top of my head. Canola, grape seed, and most other nuts are pretty good too.

The healthy component in fish probably referred to is omega 3 fatty acides. Salmon has by far the highest concentration. Tuna and most other fish in general are pretty good for you (as long as you do not go totally overboard and get mercury poisoning or other contaimentants), but they have much more modest levels omega 3s. Also the vege types of omega 3 (e.g., flaxseed) are not nearly as protective gram per gram as found in salmon and other primarily cold water fish especially and also the vege forms have some less desirable compounds.

So tuna is fine as a fairly low fat high protein food--but it isn't a miracle worker or anything. Salmon seems to be as close of an animal form of super food as there is. I am not a huge fan of it, but I tolerate a salmon filet here and there and some salmon jerky on the market is palatable. Also, canned tuna (or salmon) is fine, most samples show it is lower in mercury than like a thick tuna steak or filet (really hard to cook right anyway).

For guys, the stomach is the last to go. I noticed weight loss mostly around my face, neck and shoulders first. A little around the waist, but the stomach will take the most work to get rid of.

    Bogey is right.

    The way it works is...

    First on, last off....

So your body takes the fat it put on last ...first.

So, have faith it will come.

I am at 186, and have lost 2 belt loops and 7" off my stomach...I can now go outside without a shirt and look fairly decent.

    I love this diet....

Oh God this sounds too good.

I've been using this diet pill for a month now, and although it was fairly effective, I'm looking for way more.

PLEASE PLEASE, could someone e-mail me the basic things I need to know about the atkins diet? I went to their website, and honestly didn't find it too helpful. I'd lvoe it if ANYONE who's done fairly well with it (15lbs+ weightloss) would give me AS MUCH information as they have time to give me. I'd also like to ask some questions in reply to whatever e-mail I recieve.

    E-mail me on ehsan_70@hotmail.com please.

DaDakota, I would especially appreciate it if you could help me out, because you seem to be doing really well and also seem to really have a great knowledge of the subject.

I'm around 170cm in height (somewhere around 5'6?), I weigh around 86KG, down from 94KG since using the pill. I work out AT THE VERY LEAST 2 times a week, and at least 2 hours each time. I am fairly muscular under all this FLAB. I'm hoping to be somewhere around 70 and 75 KG.

In lbs: I'm 190lbs, and want to be 160lbs. So I'm looking to lose around 30lbs.

Like I said I work out regularly now, if that helps, and I just want to know what the hell t do to lose these 30lbs before the end of the year, and what the hell is this purple thing you're talking about?

    ehsan_70@hotmail.com

    save me! lol

    Wow.

Tomorrow will be one week, and I'm down 5 pounds. Could be some water weight, but I'm definitely motivated to hang in there some more to see what happens.

BTW, I find the sugar substitutes to be an issue for me. Aspartame has very bad clinical studies, so no way. Sucralose has no long-term tests, and may actually degrade into a chlorine molecule that has had NO human tests.

Stevia works good and is extremely safe, but really alters the flavor, IMO.

    What do ya'll use?

    Sane,

    Get the paperback book.

    Dr. Atkin's new diet revolution.

All you need to know is in there.

Cohen, it took me about 6 days to get medium purple, then after about 6 more days, I was in good ketosis.

    I am still in it....WOOT !!

    185 today...officially have lost 20 lbs.

Sane, I'm in about the same boat as you - I started at 190ish pounds. I'm down to 175 pounds after a month and a half and am still going. That being said, get the book - you really need it. Hell, you'll pay for it in a week once you stop with the pills.
