    1. Go to Sam's
    2. Buy 2 Studio Movie Grill tickets (gift cards) for $12
    3. Go to the Studio Movie Grill box office in mid-November and use gift cards to buy Star Wars tickets (with assigned seating) for opening night
    4. Relax
    5. Show up 20 minutes before showtime, stroll in, find our seats, order something to snack on
    6. ENJOY MOVIE

No way in hell I will EVER go to a big 'event' movie like this any other way than with assigned seating. Anyone both standing in line and hoping to get good seats is a complete doofus.

I am trying to decide what is worse between going to Sam's and seeing a movie at a "movie grill".

I just found out ipic has a dinner menu. Hopefully people who go tonight will actually be interested in watching a movie but if someone is chowing down I'm walking out. I can't think of anything worse than watching a movie in a theater next to someone eating dinner. If it reeks I'm out also. I'll see it next month.

    Even better:

    1. Went to Santikos.com
    2. Clicked on Palladium West Houston
    3. Clicked showtime, selected seats, and purchased tickets for premium format
    4. Show up five minutes before previews knowing nice leather seats will be waiting for us
    5. Enjoy Star Wars

Though I'm sure that does happen, it's doubtfully less rampant than any other assigned seating venue like a rockets game.

It presents a better environment in the box office itself since there aren't lines of people all over the place. It's arguably not any easier on staff but it's certainly not harder and it's tons more convenient to patrons. I'm not sure what the argument against it is.

Rockets games have ushers. You said less work for the theater.

Is amc theaters out of business?

ipic is showing the movie in 2d on only one screen with 70 seats. Edwards greenway is closer to 300 seats and they show big movies on 2-3 screens. ipic only pays Disney a percentage of the 16 dollar sale price (a few bucks more than edwards), not the 16+12 bump in price for premium seats.

So they have some leverage in that greenway is delivering 15 times the revenue to the studio. they could be asking that ipic not be given certain movies.

I'm at AMC 30 on Dunvale waiting on the 7:30 showing. There's only around 15 people in here. Very strange, but I'm not complaining.

Be careful with social media. Some assholes have already spoiled it for some of us. Whatever, makes me want to watch it more.

A guy I work with did order some tickets just yesterday for an early AM show. He got like some in the front row and just one in the back row. LOL

Toyota center holds over 16,000 people. You simply don't need an usher at a movie theater.

My wife and I loved the movie. Saw the 7:00 showing.

The new leads were awesome. Daisy Ridley was an unbelievable find. Adam Driver is a three dimensional villain.

The story does hew a bit to the outline of the original film, but all the new elements and actors are so good, and the special effects so well done, it doesn't matter.

Lots of fun watching Han and Chewie again, too.

Michael B Jordan would have been a better Finn? I thought the guy who played Finn was kinda okay. I do believe episode VIII will be much better under Rian Johnson direction.

Had quite a few Lol's like the other movies and of course the music was epic. 3D IMAX highly recommended! Can't wait to see it again!

Saw it at Santikos in Katy (assigned seats FTW) and agree on all points. Kylo Ren may be the best villain in the franchise - I did not see that coming.

Of course you guys liked it, reminded you of the first movie. It's a remix. George Lucas is a genius by giving us the stale versions of the prequels and 15 years later, we all crave the originals again.

Your nose-in-the-air comments notwithstanding, the new leads and the effects are great, and a good setup for the sequels.

Just a couple of guesses why more movie theaters don't offer the assigned seating.

    1. People have to show up early to get good seating and increases the chance they spend more at the concession stand. Gonna get hungry eventually.

    2. Less likely to sell out the entire theater if people know only the 4 front rows are available.

    Just a couple of guesses.
