    Oh k.

The subject is a cross country drive, more specifically Houston to DC. Well ok that's just the scene. The real subject is to pick 10 cd's (hypothetical-- I'll be bringing my whole collection) that you would jam to. These don't neccesarily have to be your top 10 in the world, although for me they could be... maybe they are just good driving music. Anyways, the list:

    10. RHCP- Californication (I appreciate the second half of the album more than the first)
    9. Modest Mouse- The Moon and Antartica (pick it up today if you like music)
    8. Bad Religion- '80-'85
    7. The Descendents- Milo Goes to College
    6. Radiohead- Kid A
    5. Modest Mouse- The lonesome crowded West
    4. The Pixies- Surfer Rosa
    3. The SMiths- Best of II....
    2. Belle and Sebastian- If you're feeling Sinister
    1. Radiohead- OK Computer (Best. Album. Ever)

YOU'RE THE WHISPER OF A SUMMER BREEZE
YOU'RE THE KISS THAT PUTS MY SOUL AT EASE
    WHAT I'M SAYING IS I'M
    IN TO YOU
HERE'S MY STORY, AND THE STORY GOES

YOU GIVE LOVE, YOU GET LOVE AND MORE THAN HEAVEN KNOWS
    YOU'RE GONNA SEE
I'M GONNA RUN, I'M GONNA TRY
    I'M GONNA TAKE THIS LOVE
    RIGHT TO YA
ALL MY HEART, ALL THE JOY
    OH BABY, BABY PLEASE

    RUSH, RUSH
HURRY, HURRY LOVER, COME TO ME
    RUSH, RUSH
I WANNA SEE, I WANNA SEE YA
    GET FREE WITH ME
    RUSH, RUSH
I CAN FEEL IT, I CAN FEEL YOU ALL THROUGH ME
    RUSH, RUSH
OOH WHAT YOU DO TO ME

AND ALL I WANT FROM YOU IS WHAT YOU ARE
AND EVEN IF YOU'RE RIGHT NEXT TO ME
YOU'RE STILL TOO FAR AWAY IF I'M NOT INSIDE YOUR ARMS
I GET DRAMATIC BABY, YES I KNOW
BUT I NEED YOU, I WANT YOU
OOH MAN, I LOVE YOU SO

    OOH, OOH

    YOU'RE GONNA SEE
I'M GONNA RUN, I'M GONNA TRY
I'M GONNA TAKE THIS LOVE RIGHT TO YA
ALL MY HEART, ALL THE JOY
    OOH BABY, BABY PLEASE

    {Chorus x 2}

    WHEN YOU KISS ME
    UP AND DOWN
    TURN MY SENSES ALL AROUND
    OH BABY, OH BABY

    I DON'T KNOW
    JUST HOW OR WHY
    BUT NO ONE ELSE
    HAS TOUCHED ME
    SO DEEP, SO DEEP,
    SO DEEP INSIDE

    YOU'RE GONNA SEE
    I'M GONNA RUN
    I'M GONNA TRY
I'M GONNA TAKE THIS LOVE RIGHT TO YA

ALL MY HEART, ALL THE JOY
    OH BABY, BABY PLEASE

Somewhat ironic that the first cd that twhy77 listed, Californication, has a song named "Road Trippin'."

I just drove much of it, averaging about 67 MPH.

Louisiana - never saw a highway patrol car
Mississippi - never saw a highway patrol car
Alabama - never saw a highway patrol car
Florida - cops at every major rest stop
    Georgia - cops near border
South Carolina - never saw a highway patrol car
North Carolina - never saw a highway patrol car

you can safely drive about 77 mph on most of the interstates where the speed limit is 70. safely meaning you're relatively safe from being stopped.

my father used to sing with a big band...very sinatraesque. the man LOVES sinatra. i remember taking cross country trips listening to what i consider to be my favorite sinatra cd...sinatra with carlos jobim...has a great latin jazz feel to it. i find myself playing it now when i take my wife and son on a road trip. i'm becoming my father. i hope, anyway.

    other favorites:

Counting Crows -- August and Everything After, especially.

Jackopierce -- all of their CD's remind me of road trips in college

DMB -- gee...pick the CD...put it in...take it out when it's finished. i freaking love this group.

    Bela Fleck -- Outbound

Ari Hess -- acoustic/folksy sounding...obscure artist you might hear about some day...i have a cd of his live stuff a friend made for me...good stuff

I've got to meet your dad! I grew up listening to big band, thanks to my grandmother who loved it. In fact, when she died in 97, I got her music collection since she knew no on else in the family would appreciate it. Her favorite singer was Sinatra -- in fact, she and my grandpa always told me that "their song" was Sinatra's "You've Brought a New Kind of Love to Me."
