It has been mentioned in the BBS that Chicago is looking to trade Brad Miller and Ron Artest. What do you think about this:

    Houston Trades
    Kelvin Cato
    Shandon Anderson

    for

    Brad Miller
    Ron Artest

The Rockets get a C who actually plays and a young, solid G/F who is only going to get better. Shandon is too streaky, and in my opinion just doesn't fit in with the team. And doesn't Miller's contract have a team option so that if we don't like him we can cut him after the year?

Here in Chicago, Miller is regarded as mediocre at best and Artest has been largely benched due to his poor shooting.

The chances of us trading Shandon are slim. Our FA reputation would go straight out the window.

If bskball actually got his rumor right (that'd be a first [IMG]), then I'd look into a 3 way that landed us Artest and Miller for basically Walt, Cato, Los and if needed KT, as well as freeing Chicago's pick (not releasing the obligation of oweing a pick, but allowing them to trade their pick).

Artest/Miller to us, Walt/Los to Miami, Cato/Ceballos/Ricky Davis to Chicago?

I don't really follow the Bulls. What are Artest's strengths? What would he bring to the team? Is he a swingman like Shandon and Kobe?

Hey, NIKE, your proposed 3-way looks like what I've scribbled in my least-productive sort of moment. It should work: Miller as backup center. I think Miami wants a 3 and has definitely given up on Cedric Ceballos. Hopefully Floyd thinks he can utilize Iowa State alumnus Cato, and it makes sense in a way: they keep their pick to grab either a solid 3 or top-flight point guard.

Us, we waive Miller, who's mediocre at best and has only one guaranteed year. We keep draft picks. If we must, we re-sign Miller but at an amount closer to his value. Most importantly, we have money for CWebb, Mo(?), and Shandon.

I, too, hope bskball knows something on this one.

Artest is a very good defensive player, rebounds well. Not a good shooter. Hoiberg, a 6-4 swingman was put in ahead of him because they wanted a shooter.

Artest would do well off the bench for us to back up Mobley/Anderson and for when we need addded defense.

I would prefer not to trade Cato for someone like Brad Miller just yet. Cato still has the potential to be a front line center in this league. Miller has the potential to be an adiquate back up. I would like to see Cato get healthy before we give up on him. I would pull my hair out a couple of years down the road when Dream retires if we traded Cato to Chicago and he turned into a good center and we were stuck with Brad Miller.

I don't know if SA knows what it takes to win. I mean if I remember he didn't have a major role in the jazz winning. It was all about Hornacek, Stockton, Malone, and Bryon Russell. Does Greg Ostertag know what it takes to win?

Shandon was a very important part of the Jazz, in as much as he gave them some athletic play they weren't going to get from anyone else. More than anyone on this team but Hakeem, Shandon knows how to win.

That trade would do nothing to excite me. I do not beleive Miller could be any better than a back up 5 in this league of weak centers. I would rather just let Collier mature with the team. And Ron Artest is avg at best. He hustles a lot but so does Shandon.

I would not trade Shandon for someone who doesnt know anything about winning. Shandon is a veteran, he has probably the best experience other than hakeem. Shandon has been in the finals and playoffs, he knows what it takes. I say NO.

I would never trade Shandon Anderson and Kelvin Cato. Anderson is an athletic player who plays solid defense, scores, rebounds well and he plays a good overall team game. Anderson is an integral piece to the Rockets future. Shandon Anderson is better than Ron Artest. Kelvin Cato runs the floor well, he block shots, he plays good defense, he is athletic and he can dunk alley-oops when our guard pentrates to draw the double-team. Cato is also very important to the Houston Rockets future. Kelvin Cato is better than Brad Miller.

    I would give you ..
    Brad Miller
    Ron Artest
    Corey Benjamin
    and 3 Million in cash
    for
    Cato and Anderson

Imagine Chicago with somebody like Cato in their paint. The opponents will be averaging at least 5 points less against center like that. He IS a little overpaid, but I would sacrifice one position on the team and some cap space just to have two centers like Eddy Curry and Kelvin Cato on the same team ...

Sometimes in NBA, a player is being paid so much money just to block few shots and to be a presence in the paint. Some centers in this leagus couldn't do even that, but Cato can. You don't know what you have at center right now.

    I don't think I do this deal....

You can HAVE Cato for free, how's that? All we ask is that you pay him his salary and get it off our books.

Anderson is a better all around player that Artest. Artest does have some nice size and ability, but it doesn't warrant a trade for Anderson. Miller has some decent skills, but I am sure he isn't playing for a reason. Why is Ruffin starting at center?
