I think the following players make up the vital core of the team. These are players we can start building a championship team with-

    PG- Steve Francis, Moochie Norris
    SG- Cuttino Mobley
    SF- Shandon Anderson
    PF- Mo Taylor, Kenny Thomas
    C- None

In summary, the Rockets need 2 centers, one PF, and two swing players (SG and SF).

Anybody off this list needs to pack their bags, imho.

I am a BIG fan of Kenny, but I feel that he may be expendable. Everyone else I agree with. My big thing is, I think this is the year to throw all of your eggs into one basket to draft a center.

I tihnk this should be our core:

G : Francis, Moochie and Cuttino are all combo guards, so they're gonna share the time.

F: Mo and Shandon, with Langhi backing Shandon up..KT is not a keeper, unless he loses 20lbs....

C: Cato and Collier....Cato is the perfect center for this team when he;s healthy, but he's not healthy very often, and that's why we need another center behind Collier..

So with our cap space and 2 draft picks we need to:

Draft the Backup Center, i hear there are great Centers coming out next year...

Draft a pure REBOUNDING machine (PF) in the draft....

Sign an experienced backup to play minimal minutes behind our guards....

Spend the rest of the cap space on Mooch and Mo....

Sign Shan with his early bird, or let him playout his contract and sign him with his FULL bird rights....

In about 4 years, Cuttino, Mo, and Francis will be in their prime...cato and shandon will be a little more than semi-veterans....Moochie, Langhi and Collier will have developed nicely....The Rookies will bring energy off the bench.....

I 100 percent agree with you that Francis, Norris, Mobley, Anderson, Taylor and Kenny Thomas are vital to this team's future. The Rockets should keep this team together for the next ten years. All six of these guys are young, athletic and have a positive attitude. Along with these six guys, Kelvin Cato and Carlos Rogers are vital to this team's future. I will be very glad if the Houston Rockets win the championship with these players! Walt Williams can be a leader for this team like how Matt Bullard was for the Rockets' championship team. Walt Williams is a sharp-shooter and versatile player. Williams can pass the ball, dribble, drive and he can post-up. Since Williams is a veteran he can use his experience to lead this team such to victories. Williams is a player who this team can depend on for the game-winning shot. Throughout his NBA career Walt Williams has made many game-winners. Remember last year when Williams scored 17 points per game in the last 15 games of the season. The Rockets five-game winning streak got snapped when Williams was suspended for fighting Shawn Bradley. Walt Williams was the leader for this team for the last 15 games! Williams hit many key three-pointers that helped the Rockets get their wins. Willams, Anderson, Mobley and Francis were all playing well together. Rudy Tomjanovich knows Walt Williams is vital to this team's future. Tomjanovich has Williams coming off screen and rolls for his shot and set plays for him to hit the open shot after his teammate is double-teamed. He also used Williams at power forward in crunch time last year with Francis was at point guard, Mobley at shooting guard, Anderson at the small forward at Kelvin Cato at center. This was a very athletic team. Walt Williams spread the floor with his outside shooting. This helped the Rockets to play so good for the final 15 games of the season last year.

Carlos Rogers is not VITAL to this team's future. I hope not, anyway, because he won't be around after this year.

    I prefer this:

    1.Francis/Mooche
    2.Mobley
    3.? /Langhi/Draft Pick (Terrence Morris?)
4.CWebb (if we can get him)
    5.Cato/Collier/Draft Pick (Loren Woods?)

    Vital Pieces
    1 Francis
    2 Mobley
    3
    4 Mo
    5

I see these guys as key ingredients to the offense. Scoring would become more erratic with the loss of one of these three.

    Important Pieces
    1 Moochie
    2 Anderson
    3
    4 Kenny
    5 Cato

Cato could become a good defensive center and an average rebounder. Kenny is a solid backup that has improved his touch. Anderson is a solid all around player, but with the loss of hakeem, the rockets need a better rebounder on the frontline. Moochie rules.

    Possible Pieces
    1
    2
    3 langhi
    4
    5 Collier Hakeem

    Their production is unknown.

If Anderson stays with the rockets, the rockets should use the draft on a big SF and a backup center.

If Anderson leaves, the Big SF still and a 2 guard to backup Mobley.

You guys are living in a fantasy world if you think that Webber will sign with Houston. Webber wants to win every night, something that just isn't gonna happen in Houston. Add to that, that he probably wants to go to the east somewhere, where he doesn't have to face Malone, Duncan, Garnett, Wallace, and Shaq every other night. Face it, the Rockets are going to be stuck in rebuilding for a while, and in the west they won't be in the playoffs anytime soon.

Incorrect my mislead Jazzhhole. If you add the best PF in the NBA to the young core that the Rockets have and they become instant contenders.

Secondly, the Rockets have finished rebuilding and it is only a matter of adding in the complimentary pieces to Francis and Mobley for a run at the title, because both Francis and Mobley will be wearing NBA championship rings before Stockton and Malone.

The Rockets will be the NBA champions. Believe.

That says all I need to hear about your credibility.

You are either very brave or very stupid (which gets my vote) to come to this board with that ****. For the most part, we are very tolerant of other teams fans coming here and voicing there opinion, provided they make a valid argument and do not simply bash the Rockets. You have done neither, so you will not be welcomed here. Bye bye Jazzhole!

With Steve, Cat and CWebb you don't think this team could contend? I certainly do.

And before you go writting off the Rockets you might want to do a little research on Rudy T's and CD's record with free agents.

Also CWebb would be coming to an organization with one of the best winning traditions in the league over the last 21 years. Lets see, 4 trips to the finals and 2 championships. Who else can make that claim outside of Boston, LA and Chicago? Not NY. Boston has been down for long that people under the age of 25 probably don't even remember their last championship. Houston has been one of the most consitantly competitive teams in the NBA through out the last 21 years.

Houston also has the richest history of big men outside of LA. Malone, Hayes, Sampson, Dream, Barkley, Thorpe....and Webber?

Add to the fact that Houston will have more cap space than most other teams out there with a legit chance at CWebb and I think we are one of the front runners in the CWebb derby if he decides to leave Sac.

Don't forget the large amount of draft pics that Houston has aquired that will be coming due soon and I think Houston is one of the premier orginizations for any free agent.

Oh yeah there is Westside and Fonde the two biggest off season hang outs for NBA players wanting to shape up their games for the up coming season right here in Houston as well.

Yeah you are obviously right Houston has no chance at all.

Just imagine how long its going to take for the Jazz to rebuild. Once Stock and Maloof are gone, they will have to rely on Jacques Vaughn and Donyell Marshell on a nightly basis. I pity your pitiful franchise, Schwa.

Man,Dj put the "wizard's" last name 14 times in his post.If i have to read it one more time I will freak out.

Now to the topic, this line up includes just the players which I think are VERY reachable:

    pg-francis/mooch
    sg-mobes/FA veteran shooter
    sf-anderson/morris/langhi
    pf-mo/cato
    c-DREAM(well,maybe)/woods/collier

that would create a very young, athletic, exciting team with a bright future(more than now),great core

Kenny Thomas does not need to lose 20 lbs.
