Mack Brown is not the problem. Greg Davis is the problem. That 1st quarter on sunday was caused by Davis going ultra conservative. I have no problem believing Major audibled almost every play at the line after the playcalling last sunday and against OU last october.

Now that being said, it is Mack's responsibly to hire assistants and if he won't fire Davis and the team can't overcome his inexplicable playcalling, then he needs to go, but I'm not at that point yet.

Carl Reese on the other hand had his defense ready to go on sunday. Outside of one bad drive that led to their touchdown, the defense abused NMSU.

I hope for KSU and OU and even Arkansas, who is not to be taken lightly, we come out aggressive on both sides of the ball. I also suggest on offense using benson and young in the same plays, with one as a 4th receiver, on occasion. I also think young has more gamebreaking ability with his speed that I haven't seen from Ced, so he needs to get more carries. Also, in the passing game use some simple WR streaks, hitch and go's and 20 yard crossing patterns. We have top notch wideouts, put the defense on its heels all game long in my opinion. I almost think we should use the pass to set up the run, as roy is almost unstoppable if healthy, and if teams want to take him out of the game you have BJ, Sloan, and Bo Scaife, who if fully recovered from his 2nd knee surgery is like a WR playing TE. Then mix in the young-to-young speed option game, and watch out.

There are so many possibilities on offense for this team, it's up to Davis to put the pedal to the metal and put the defense in trouble.

I was very happy with the defense and special teams sunday, but Davis has a ton of offensive weapons to use and he needs to get ultra aggressive. Our talent on both sides of the ball can make up for mistakes by either unit. Let's play that way.

I personally like having Mack represent my university and think the problem is Davis, but if the team can't overcome Davis and make BCS bowl games in the near future, either Mack gets unloyal to Greg or they both go.

It's all about expectations. #1 team or not, it's not good to lose to your rival 4 times in a row, especially with all that talent we have.

BTW, I don't understand you. You seem to be complimenting Mack in this thread, or maybe you're just bragging about OU. But then, your signature pokes fun at Mack.

I just think it's stupid to fire someone if they don't beat the #1 ranked team in America. And the "You know what I mean" was about someone saying OSU was #1...

If OU wins the next 3, Mack is gone. Hicks "how did he get to be #1? Is he out recruiting you now?" Doesn't matter OU's rank.

    Gary Barnett

I still remember the days when many UT fans were pissed he was not hired.

Not me. I always thought Barnett was second rate.

Mack's biggest problem is his unyielding devotion to Greg Davis.

It's like Mr. Burns and Smithers.

I agree 100,000%, and I will take it a step further. If he does not change his ways, Mack's unyielding devotion to all of his assistants will be the reason he gets fired.

What a bunch of idiots! Barnett would have been a monumental failure.

BTW, at the time, I was pretty pissed.... ;)
