Maybe Mo will be more apt to rebound if he saw SAR rebounding.

no I said "whatever it takes". Like Rudy streaking naked across the Summit floor yelling Kapayah, Kapayah, Kapayah.

in a perfect world, we'd trade Cato-Walt-Los-KT plus picks for SAR (and if need be, free agents). Then, and only then, would we be able to keep Shareef, and sign CWebb. That'll happen. [IMG]

here's the other question-say you get SAR for Cato and change, and can trade him for CWebb. Olajuwon in all likelihood leaves/retires. You can't keep Taylor (no money) and KT was traded in order to get Shareef. No substantial picks (traded). Who's your center? If Cwebb, who's your PF?

Why would we bench an Olympian? I'm sure that if we got Shareef we would go back to benching Mobley. This wouldn't really hurt the team chemistry too much, unless Cuttino threw a fit and he shouldn't because we would be contenders.

How much are we willing to give up for Shareef? Or for Webber? Do you put them together on the floor? Can they co-exist? Is Shareef better at the 4 or the 3?

Do we send Shareef to Sacramento for C-Webb and keep Sacramento strong so that we still have to get past them in the West?

    Can/would Mo re-sign and play a Rick Smits-type outside-shot no-rebound center?

Should we "just" trade Cato/Los/Walt to Chicago and/or Miami in a 3-way (we should be so lucky) that lands us, say, Artest and expiring contracts (or something like that) and concentrate on getting Webber and drafting players we need in the off-season?

I post like this because we have only questions. It's tough as hell to guess what might happen. At least we'll have answers soon.

I think people are missing the point with a possible acquisition of Rahim. With the way our backcourt rebounds, and with the way Mo and Rahim would rebound (They should get us(16 to 20 rebounds a game), this team could operate WITHOUT a big-time center like Chicago and Utah and Phoenix (with Charles) used to do, and the way a lot of other teams like Minnesota and Denver would do. All we would need is a servicable center (maybe draft a center), or at least a decent big man in the middle (a workhorse Antonio Davis-type player) and go to war with that. Don't you think that Rahim, Mo, Cat, Francis and Shandon with their rebounding, would allow us to work without a dominant, or even big-time center!?

I doubt Cato and Walt would get it done even if the salaries did match up. Surely they will ask for Shandon and picks in return also. They don't need anymore PFs, so kick Mo out of any equation(unless its a 3-way). If we do really have a shot, I wouldn't give up more than Walt, Cato, and Shandon...or substitute pick(s) for one player.

What!? An Olympian, an All-Star quality player, who is a superstar and who is averaging 20 points 10 rebounds a game won't start for us!? Sixth man? What are we the Dream Team!?

Rest assured that if the Rockets somehow manage to trade for Reef he walks in here and starts from day 1.

I'd say at least 2 future first rounders, including one of this year's.

Why would Vancouver want to tie up more money in a center when they are already paying millions each year for Big Country? For Vancouver to even consider Cato, they would have to:

    1. Trade Big Country.

    or

    2. Have a third team involved to take Cato and send disposables to Vancouver.

Houston is already on the hook with one pick to Vancouver and it is hard to imagine that SAR can be had for disposables and 2 mid-round or later picks. Doubtful that the packages being discussed so far will be enough to land SAR.

This thread is a joke, right? It's amazing how you all got together on it. lol! I mean, you couldn't pay us enough to take those two underachieving overpaid bums, Cato and Williams. Cato (5M) would look good in our line up, don't you think? He could be our third string centre, behind Reeves (10M) and Austin (5M). We'd have 20M worth of stiffs at the 5! Hey, that's exactly what we need! And Walt, he's an old, defensively weak, highly overpaid, bench player, right? We're just dying to trade our 20&10 dream-teamer for these two. Where do we sign up?

Please tell me this thread is some kind of lame joke. [IMG]

Just a pointer Stoonian, but on your first post, it is wise not to tear down quite as much as you did right there.

And BTW, Bryant Bigass country reeves and ike austin couldn't even touch Kelvin Cato.

Obviously you haven't seen Cato injury-free.

When he had a stretch of 6 games where his hand and feet were fine, he put up averages of 17, 8, and 4!

Right now the best center in the east(outside of Mourning of course),Ratliff, isn't even close to as talented to Cato.

Cato is much quicker and stronger.

I have found the picture interesting because when someone asked for Webber in a Rocket uniform, it was almost shotdown, but when Clutch gives us a pic of SAR in the pj's, no one disagreed with the idea. Is there more to this? When will we know? I think if the team continues to win, then no trade will happen even if a superstar's name is being discussed. I wonder if the Rockets start losing, we will start hearing more rumors. Everyone seems fine when they are winning but when they are losing people are calling for something to be done.

    Stevierebel,
That's true, generally. When we win, we don't look so strongly at trade possibilities.

Also, as weeks go by since rumors were first posted, our fire tends to flag; we're sure possibilities are always discussed but we don't know what. I think right now the majority might be happiest if we unload salaries, while others hope for SAR.

SAR would be an exciting acquisition, but he's kinda slow to defend small forwards and kinda finesse-ish to defend the 4. Still, anything is possible; and since anything is possible, we just wait and see.
