Has a final decision been made on Malick Badine??

His attitude and energy makes it seem like he'll be a fan favorite but if he needs another year over seas that I guess we'll have to wait.

yeah he loox like a serviceable role player.. I hope he can play already.. we give him the minimum and WALLA another body warming the benches and handing gatorade to the players that do play.

Malick gets back from Senegal this week, a decision may be made when he returns, or they might keep him around for training camp and decide sometime then what his status is. Ideally a decision would be made in the next week, but nobody really knows.

I'd like to see what he could do in training camp, but I don't know when the EURO leagues start. We will have to make a decision before they start so he can start the EURO season if that's the case.

I'd be shocked if Malick were anywhere as "NBA Ready" as Boki.

I have never seen him play, just based on what every scout has said.

Lots of scouts overrate international players when they are bearly coming into the league... But like lots of time they are right.. but it basically takes time

I think it basically depends on his strength (muscle) and grasp of the english language right now.

If he has enough strength to play in the paint in the NBA right now, then I really would be dissapointed if he left. I'd rather he learns his fundamentals from JVG's coaches (Pat Ewing) and become a solid player for us.

Right now we don't have a 3rd (emergency) PF or C, so Malick would seem to have a roster spot unless we add another 4/5.

scouts also overrate college players when they are BARELY coming into the league... look at Joe Smith and Kenyon Martin, who in my opinion is a decent player but not at all worthy of a #1 overall pick who I'm going to really enjoy seeing play much worse without Ason Kidd if that joker really thinks he deserves a max contract.

Malick is a Rock this year if JVG says Malick is a Rock this year.

Let JVG open that Parcells can of whupass. The Cowlicks will be lots better for it and I expect the Rox will be, too.

waiting around for players to blossom is risky. you can never tell if they will ever get there. i can't remember one guy the rockets drafted that ever fulfilled "potential ." hakeem was a stud right off the bat. there are guys like jermaine o'neal and tracy mcgrady who did come into there own after years in the league. but all in all it doesn't happen often. yao and amare will improve with experience but are studs already. francis was rookie of the year. i would gladly trade boki or eg or mo and all their potential for something in the here and now. as far as badiane, throw him in and see if he sinks or swims. all we need from him is some rebounding and defense every now and then.

Don't mean to get off-topic, but who in that draft was worth being a #1 pick? Mike Miller? Chris Mihm? Mark Madsen? Our own Jason Collier? I'd say K-Mart was the best player out of that draft class.

    Yucky draft.

Anyway, I think it would be best to keep Malick in Senegal to work on his game, rather than force him to adapt to the NBA game. Remember, Yao averaged 30 and 20 before he came to the US, and Boki was coming off a championship season. It would be best to let Malick work on his game overseas before suiting up with the Rox.

It's best not to get too impatient, even if it is the offseason.

He's darkside. Be Careful. Use the Sticky Grenade and then throw light saber.

the spanish league (ACB) start the last week of september.
Malick is on the german league, so I don't know when start this league. But sure, before of October.

Let's sign Malick. He will be our 5th inside man.
We need 5 players at PF and C positions. I think he will be better than other centers of the training camp, and ROckets won't sign anymore. SO I hope Malick with us next year.

We have what 11 guys on contract? Don't we need to fill 2-4 more spots? If we are not going to do anything else then why not give him a spot? Hopefully we will do something else.

Someone posted a bunch of avi files of the Summer League with Malick. He has one of the best rebounding techniques I've seen in a long time.

He's one of the quickest jumpers I've seen. Garnett-like.

And without him, who's gonna carry bags next season? He is the only rookie we have this year. We will have to force Yao to do it one more year. hah!

But he is not even the 1st option in this 2nd division German team. He is NOT ready.
