Those numbers are terrifying. I honestly think this is the end of the beginning of an ugly chapter to come. It's been coming for a while; we all just let too many rhetorical things slide, and the internet has given us a "post fact" society, ironically. None of us agree on facts anymore, and our echo chambers do not connect.

Who was RocketsLegend before he became RocketsLegend? He joined less than a month ago and already has 150+ posts, and it seems like the majority of them are in D&D.

Troll or recently converted ex-Muslim. I remember when I just deconverted and was angry at anything related to Islam or Muslims. Eventually I gained some nuance in my rhetoric and became more rational.

But, I'm thinking he must have posted under some other moniker before this one. Newcomers tend to start in the basketball forums and not spend so much time in the cesspool.

Definitely on to something. I don't know who signs up on a basketball team fan forum to post political discussion as their sole reason.

there's no doubt he had another account before that was either banned or had horrible reputation

in fact he probably isn't even an ex-muslim like he claims

A couple disgruntled ex-Muslims on here. Again, I wonder if their hatred stems from a particular sect of Islam or family they grew up with?

Anyone aware of any other "Iranians" on the board?

When our government became blatant and proud torturers is when I really became worried.

I'm still trying to verify if this is actually reality. I don't think it is because I can't find anything confirming it. Was there any declaration from Reagan that overturned the order from Carter?

And you seem to agree with Carter's policies, but I see Carter first banned oil imports from Iran and then froze Iranian assets. Should we take those steps too against all Muslim nations?

It's not surprising to see a lot of vehemence from disaffected members of religions. In my experience, ex-Christians also show more animosity toward Christianity than lifelong atheists. Not surprising that ex-Muslims would be the same way.

As an ex-Muslim, I think I'm pretty damn rational and understand the difference between criticizing ideology and condemning individual humans.

Remember, Many ex-Muslims in the Middle East are perfectly within reason to have a strong distaste for Islam when it's literally threatening their lives.

Try this link: https://books.google.com/books?id=WFbVAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA611&lpg=PA61. We often made country-of-origin distinctions in visa and immigration decisions. That's not the problem so much as the false equivalency with religious distinctions, the impracticability of freezing out so much of the world, and the irrationality of the fear that drives the popularity of this idea.

Was not trying to intimate that your reaction or position (or even RocketsLegend's) was irrational. Just strong.

"terrifying" ... really ? This poll is 605 " likely" voters out of a country of 300+ million . Extremely small sample size

I hear you and think polls are over-estimated in general, but yes, even out of 600 random people, those results are scary. If those are the only people who feel that way and we just randomly somehow happened to include only those cretins in a random poll, then fine, but the odds of that are overwhelmingly small.

The odds are that the poll has some relation to a broader reality, sadly.
