Harrington and Artest for Mobley and Cato? For what it's worth, both teams get what they want. We don't lose much as Artest replaces Mobley, and we are set at SF/PF with the addition of Harrington. The Pacers get a great scoring SG, and a center who lets O'neil stay at the PF position. Steve / Mooch Artest / Pike Harrington / Bokie / Griffin / Rice Griffin / Mo Tay / Harrington Yao / FA? Maybe we can convince them to take Mooch? He's the weakest link on the Rockets.
I like this line up alot, but maybe instead of a free agent center we could send Rice somewhere for back-ups at center and the point?
its highly unlikely that a few members of the board were not listening to 610 sports radio tonight, and it's even more unlikely that they missed this or would not at least make a post confirming this. i say that guy is full of it.
Isn't anything 'according to 610' full of ****? When was the last time anything they said was remotely true?
aren't artest and harrington both sf's? we don't get better at pf, we lose a very valuable backup C, and don't have a 2? or if artest is the 2, we now have a 2/3/4 combo that can't hit a 3. perfect. and why get artest's D to replace mobley's when mobley was already our best perimeter defender. not at artest's level, but certainly valuable. and mobley can shoot. now to look up some stats.
Heres my breakdown: Arterst is a shooting guard though he does play the small foward spot some. Harrington is a power forward-small forward, kind of like Abdur Rahim, but not as smooth, but seems to have a little tougher style to his game
I think Artest is more of a SF who can play SG, like Posey. His handles aren't too great. I think in Artest we'd get a more offensively skilled, but also more volatile, version of JPo. While it would be nice to have, I wouldn't give up Mobley for him.
I really don't like to comment on a idea like this, but I'll do it for arguments sake. The propsed deal isn't that bad as most will make it out to be. Some reason and somehow, the Pacers have log jammed their team up with simlar type players just like the Rockets have done. Artest played his best ball at the 2 spot last yr, but when Miller came back, he had to slide down. Harrington ,Bender, and Croshere all played the same spot. Bender has the most potential like Griffin,Harrington is the most productive and Croshere is the guy with the big contract. What gives? If Harrington and Bender had problems with Carisle earlier, maybe with the maturation process theycan solve that, but just like anything else coaches and gm's like putting their own stamp on the team. Since Artest is a byc that means a his trade value is 1/2 his worth. If he makes 7m a yr, he only counts 3.5m. Harrington makes 5.5 m which equals 9m a yr. Its only a couple of combinations i see working which would make this deal fair for both teams. Cat and Cato equals about 12m while Harrington and Artest= 9m together. To get the prices right, Danny ferry would have to be included and maybe the Jones who with Cat being there won't get any runs anyway. Here's my breakdown: Cat,Cato for Artest,Harrington,Ferry and Jones. Thats my .02 cents.
I agree on Harrington. I see Artest as the reverse. The guy is built like a tank- isn't he listed somewhere between 230-240? To put that in perspective, that's about 20 lbs. on Griffin coming out of college. I recall quotes from him saying he preferred to play the 3, but was at the 2 due to injuries to Miller, and the need to get Bender/Harrington some frontcourt time. I like both Harrington and Artest. That said, I'm highly skeptical that this rumor is legit- as in real, or as in actually reported by 610.
Well, Berman is done....ZERO mention of Rockets news period. just an fyi for those that care. I personally think this rumor is bs.
not that the espn message boards are a great place of info, but: could this be cat being sent to pussyland? think of the pacers mascot.
I did a little snooping. 610 did not report this. Someone may have discussed it as a possible trade scenario or as a rumor, but there was no report of discussions between the Rockets and Pacers or any immenent deals. Nothing on any other station either. I've said it before and I'll say it again... if it is posted on some other BBS, especially ESPN.com, chances are it is complete and total nonsense. I still wonder why anyone reads those boards.

TRADE MOBLEY!! It's a good trade if it's true. We free up cap room by getting rid of Cato and get an excellent defender in Artest.
It's ok for me if the trade went thru. But who will back up Yao? I'm thinking of Drobjnak..what do ya think?
