Behind every bullet that guy fired was hate. The pipe bombs in Boston, hate bombs. Paris guns were hate guns. Sure improve the gun laws, more screening, more waiting, no large mag automatics, etc... No problem, I don't have an issue with that at all. BUT... Why not address the root cause? Civil Rights Law allow it, I'm not sure why we don't expand and enforce. Don't allow hateful gatherings, marches, groups, etc... It's not free speech, don't let those groups hide behind that banner. As a civilized society we should be able to recognize that protection of free speech cannot allow other protections to be violated. Including civil rights. It will take a generation but eventually (as old racists die off) you'll have a nation of compassion and tolerance. Also don't allow legal immigration (or travel to/from) from Salafi/Wahhabi countries unless massive screening occurs and even then on a watch list. It sucks but it's the world we live in.

Definitely religiously inspired terror. Am I misunderstanding the target, though? Was this the equivalent of an adult daycare for adults with disabilities?

Yes, definitely looking like terrorism. You seem to have this idea though that people avoided the terror label out of some kind of political motive. I don't think that's so. I think we were following bigtexxx's advice to wait for facts. Some things looked odd as a terror attack (namely, the target), but things are stacking up to say it is. If people are still holding out for alternate explanations though, then yeah I have to wonder why.

(On the target, I wonder if they were thinking of attacking a better PR target in Los Angeles, but this guy decided to take out his coworkers first outside of the plan because he was pissed off, and the police reaction to that prevented him from moving on to his intended target.)

I'll go ahead and accept on authority from US officials that they looked at it and decided it was credible, so I'll deem it credible too.

Still like the idea. Nothing has actually changed because we have always been living with some risk of people wanting to commit atrocities. Humanitarianism is worth what I judge to be a very slight incremental increase in that risk. It's the same with gun rights. Gun advocates judge that their liberty in this regard is worth the occasional atrocity. Seeing one more doesn't change anything in the calculus because they already knew it would happen eventually.

You may need a little brush up on the actual policy regarding the immigrants who are victims of ISIS.

Tell it to Saddam Hussein and his WMD's. Bad government intel is what started all this 14 year ago.

    Replace 'bad' with 'manipulated'.

Hits the nail on the head. He was so quick to come out and talk about this incident when almost no facts were known and the bodies were not even cold - now that more facts about the murderers' motive have come out, has he made another statement?

It felt like a snowjob at the time. If Obama is putting a fabricated ISIS connection out there to further some political machinations of his, he's doing a great job. Politicians are climbing over each other trying to be more tough on ISIS than he is.

Is it just me or is there hardly any footage at all for this terrorist attack? Where are the cell phone videos and pictures from the party? I've seen the helicopter footage from up above *after the shootout*. Where's the dash cam and helmet cam videos of the hundreds of cops who surrounded the black SUV? For 9/11, Boston, and others we have tons of live video by the authorities. Here, nothing's been released except after the fact. What's going on?

Crappy part of town that didn't have iconic skyscrapers or a marathon going on. Should be internal cameras.

I agree. It ain't Midtown Manhattan. So where are the vids from internal cameras? From the office building interior, exterior, parking lot, Crown Victoria dash cam, SWAT truck dash cam, SWAT helmet cam, normal cop body cam?

In Paris, you had soooo much footage from bystanders, neighbors, cafes, cops, etc.

OK, so Newtown was bigger, and no one GAF. This, however, is part of the march toward war, war, war. Can anyone name the last year when the U.S. was not at war?

This isn't about Obama. People need to stop trying to worry about Dems or Repubs here - we have a serious problem. This thing is:

    1. Terrorism
    2. Workplace violence
    3. Radical Islamic Extremism
    4. Gun violence out of control

It's all of these things. Not one, but ALL.

The trend in escalating terrorism and escalating mass shootings not related to terrorism is very troubling.

Both are on the rise. It's time we start to get serious about gun control. Seriously, this is getting ridiculous. We also need to really need to address extremism of any type and figure out ways to discourage it or fight it before it manifests itself into violence.

who said no one "GAF" and what makes you think we're going to march at war? I say nothing will change in our fight against terrorism.
