Op, do you know how much screw yourself you're getting into? You can easily get into major debt, running credit card debts and paying high interest (burning away money) for 10+ years. It's a very common mistake.

Doesnt OP have student loans to worry about before piling on even more debt? Thats going to be my first priority after college.

Paying off that debt to minimize the interest on that BS.

Angry old white men vote Republican and would not be caught dead in some fairy electric car like a Telsa.

Gross. Those are just for people who want to seem like they have money, but really don't.

Get a classic muscle car. You will stand out more and won't cripple yourself financially.

I don't understand people who are "big fans of" [insert name]... but often some tech dude - Musk, Jobs, Zuck. Well at least to the extent they'd want to emulate them or satisfy their fandom by doing something as moronic as buying a Tesla with a $20/hr job... while living in NYC nonetheless.

    It's just a car.
    He's just a dude.

Mind you this is from someone that owns a BMW... but I did the prudent thing, bought a 4 year old, slightly used BMW (less than 6k miles per year by the previous owner) which I got at half of the original price. You can satisfy those "carnal" urges, wisely.

If I were you, I would invest that 13k elsewhere rather than spend it all and while also adding a significant amount of debt, just to drive a car to make you look wealthy. Whats funny, is you would be far from that if you did.

Other than minor stuff mine has been reliable.

My issue has been with the tires that stupid ****ing Tesla recommends.

    That's what I found weird:

OP, if you are a big fan of Elon Musk, wouldn't you want to try and emulate him, his ideals, and his success rather than just buying one of his products?

Anyone who likes Elon Musk must be a fan of his work ethic, perseverance, focus and innovativeness. Do the hard work and learn the technologies that he thinks will lead us forward. You'll be much more like Elon Musk if you do that than just buy his car and cripple yourself financially. Sink that money into further education and if done right you might propel yourself to be able to afford much more than a Model S in the future. What if you could become the future owner of SpaceY
