Manny, I wouldn't go as far as to say that they are trying to make money. I'm sure some of the people he has asked are giving him an honest answer and opinion. I'm also not surprised that some people think creatine is relatively safe to use. The dangerous thing he is doing is that he is taking advice selectively, only taking on what he wants to hear. He obviously isn't even thinking about the possibility of this being dangerous and posted only to satisfy the idea that it's okay to use it, absolutely healthy... everyone agrees. Now that we are actually opining against it he is coming back defensively. Oh, and I've asked many people about this before as I myself considered and have concluded that it isn't worth the risk as there are too many people that think it is not healthy and there points have not been proven either right or wrong. When you find yourself in a situation like this it is better not to take the risk. There is too much to lose and too little to gain. Seriously, it's a gamble you don't need to take.
Ace, Have you read any creatine studies? How can you claim that there are more doubts about this than 'most others', when the exact opposite is true? All of the studies performed to date, and there are many, do NOT show an increased health risk. Personally, I'm a bit skepitical of opinions from people who have clearly not researched the topic at all.
How did I miss that!? Holey crap, that guy is MASSIVE. That cannot be real! Anyway, as he himself said in that post... he did it naturally!!!! He didn't need creatine.
did anyone read the 2 articles i wrote on the first page. the only people that have said it's bad are the people on this board. my uncle isn't in it for money, cause he'd obviously gain none, the trainers at my gym wouldnt make money, but the gnc guys have. all the tests though on creatine have shown that it's pretty safe.
I maintain that there still are no studies that say whether creatine places dangerous stress on the liver and kidneys in the long run. Also, there is debate as to whether this is true or not, and it is being strongly contested. The burden of proof lies with those who are creatine proponents, and none can be provided. I perhaps did not choose my words wisely with 'most others' as that is a vague statement.
I still say you just do it naturally, yea there might not be studies that show it has bad effects, but with it being debated why take the risk? You got one board telling you its fine and another saying dont, why not just be ok until creatine is proven 100% safe, then why not just workout without the supplements?
i saw one of my friends today. his dad's a doctor and my friend takes creatine. his dad said there isn't anything bad about it.
If your so convince it's safe than mind as well take it. It's your body, your not going to listen to what other people say anyways. But if I was only 16, I'd wait a couple more years.
Did you not read anything i said? its being debated, why take the risk, besides taking supplements to boost your weights i think is just being a pansy, why not build naturally?
At the risk of sounding repetitive, what is your goal? Do you want to look like the guy in the picture in 1 year? If it did harm your body, but you got to look like the guy in the picture in 2 years, would it be worth it to you?
How is creatine unnatural? You get a gram in an 8 ounce steak. Do you drink gatorade? Take multivitamins? Are those just for pansies too? Again, refined sugar (in the amount that we regularly consume) has been proven to be unsafe, whereas creatine (which is found in food in large amounts) has not. Yet all of these 'authorities' that ya'll apparently look to for their 'hypothetical knowledge'...support a diet high in sugar. Sounds like a bunch of sheep to me.
So drinking gatorade before i go into the weight room will boost my weights??? I think not. Creatine hasnt been proven safe though either, i just dont see why take the risk. I posted a suggestion for him a few posts back to just eat peanut butter before he goes to bed. Why not just do that then take something that is debateable like creatine
Originally posted by FlyerFanatic So drinking gatorade before i go into the weight room will boost my weights??? I think not. That was not my point. Why is consuming creatine 'pansy' when the other's are not? Creatine hasnt been proven safe though either, i just dont see why take the risk. I posted a suggestion for him a few posts back to just eat peanut butter before he goes to bed. Why not just do that then take something that is debateable like creatine And peanut butter's safety is not debatable? Hmm. Ever heard of liver cancer-causing aflatoxin? http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002429.htm The FDA 'believes' that long-term exposure at certain levels isn't harmful. Can you find a long-term clinical study they base that on? Bet not. Not very comforting, since: ...One family of mycotoxins, the aflatoxins, are carcinogenic and immunotoxic and cause growth r****dation in animals.... http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=116667 When you consume peanut butter, you are consuming a known carcinogen. Whe you consume creatine, it's not unlike eating several steaks. But do what you want.
Taking creatine when you're 155 lbs is like putting a $800 pipe on a Honda Civic DX. Yes it makes a difference but so what? Are you getting paid to lift more? Will girls like you more because you can lift 200 vs 185? You would better served just eating more and lifting heavy if you want to get bigger and stronger.
