Wow I feel old, I started watching the nba just before the start of this era, and now most of these guys only have 1 or 2 seasons left in them. Loved this group of guys

You are selling coach Carlisle way too short, ask any Spurs fans and the majority will tell you that he is the 2nd best coach in the league, and even perhaps a 1b to coach Popovich 1a.

What is the similarity between them ? A no nonsense approach to the game and having a franchise player who allowed themselves to be coached & setting the right example to other teammates.

Too bad the Mavs have not all that successful in giving Dirk the best long term teammates like the Spurs have provided Timmy with Parker & Ginobili, and now the new generation of Leonard, Green, and LMA.

The Spurs do it with defense, since their offense is kinda in a funk right now, adjusting to LMA presence & Leonard ascension as a legit no 1 a/b scoring option. The schedule is admittedly soft too, a blessing for this transition & adjustment period.

O I have always love coach Carlisle and thought he was one of the best, if not the best in the league but I was saying others are beginning to see that (I did not say it correctly).

In regards to the opt out question, from hearing all the inside info (which we all know can be complete bs) all of the players love the organization, the owners, and each other so no I do not expect anyone to opt out...though the mavs are an old team the 3 young guys in powell, parsons, and matthews is a nice little core to build around once dirk retires and with parsons selling ability who knows who he may be able to bring in (though mavs haven't been the best at bringing in free agents as I painfully know haha)
