I wonder how Dream's renewed attitude & game will affect the Rockets decision making process at the end of the season. Assuming he keeps playing like this all the way to the end of the season, would the Rockets make a strong push to resign him or go after Webber instead? Would Dream accept the veterans minimum or would he want a bigger piece of the pie? Would Dream even want to stay? A lineup of Dream/Webber/Shandon/Francis/Cat would be tough to beat, if not impossible. Will the Rockets trade Cato/Walt for expiring contracts or pull a multi team trade in order to acquire Shareef? That would give them a starting lineup of:

    C: Dream
    PF: Webber
    SF: Shareef
    SG: Mobley
    PG: Francis

I know it's a reach to think we could assemble a team like that, but it's possible, with a little luck. Who could beat a team like that? The Rockets are going to have to make some tough decisions at the end of the season if Dream keeps playing like this. How can you possibly let the perfect center for this team go if he remains healthy & keeps the right attitude? I know that in basketball years, Dream is old, but wouldn't you want to draft a young center & convince Dream to take him under his wing & teach him how to be a great center?

Come on Dream, keep playing like you have the last two games & put the Rockets into a deep quandary. [IMG]

How do you propose we pay all these studs? Well, I suppose we could, if we only had those five players on the roster, and Langhi and Collier.

That lineup also wouldn't work because there is only one basketball! [IMG]

    My dreamcast scenario is this:
Renounce Dream. We'd have to do so, in order to...
    GET WEBBER!!
    Just get him.
If we can move Cato and/or Los and/or Walt (I'm thinking Chicago and Miami) for last-year-contract players (Ceballos, etc.), then we can re-sign Dream if he wants. Otherwise, draft, say, Terence Morris or that Scalabrine kid (center/power forward)and we'll still be loaded.

Interesting, on NBA2K1 I have Cato, Duncan, Reef, Cat, and Francis as my starters. The team you are proposing is even more loaded, what with replacing Cato with Olajuwon.

This assumes of course that one considers Webber on par with Duncan, or at least close enough so as not to offset the gain from Olajuwon over Cato.

    Hydra,

Duncan is not a FA. How would you get him without gutting the team. I can't believe that San Antonio would trade him in the first place & if they did, it would take an aweful lot of talent to get him.

I traded Olajuwon and Mo Taylor for Duncan. Shandon and the Bull brought Reef over.

Hydra: Statistics lie-- even (especially) when the unit is dollars. Just because a trade works dollar-wise in no way makes it a doable deal.

Please take note. I said this was my lineup on NBA2K1. I did not say that I thought it could be done here in the real world. I was only comparing the lineup suggested to start the thread to my video game lineup. Thank you.

    Hydra,

Are you trying to kill my thread? I think it worked. Let's see if I can pump some life back into it.

With Shareef allegedly demanding a trade & Clutch's hint that he may have been part of the trade that would have everyone partying, it's possible that we could get him. If Dream would accept the minimum in order to play on what could be the best lineup in the history of the NBA (assuming that they can develop team chemistry), that would leave us enough cap space to go get Webber. We could sign Shandon with his early bird rights.

The only question that I have, is that when Dreams contract expires, would MO wait for us to sign Webber first & let us sign him to the $4.5 mill exception afterwards or does the CBA allow that? All these players would probably put us way over the cap, but what a team we'd have.

    C: Dream/#1 Draft Pick/Collier
    PF: Webber/MO
    SF: Shareef/Anderson/Langhi
    SG: Anderson/Cat
    PG: Francis/Moochie

Anyone have an opinion on this scenario playing out? Please be gentle. [IMG]

Oh my god! like why don't we do our homework...blah blah blah blah....Bull for Shaq...blah blah blah...

    Rockets 2001/2002 line up:

    C: Shaq/Dream
    PF: Garnett/Webber/Taylor
    SF: Raheem/G. Robinson
    SG: Mobley/Bryant/Shandon
    PG: Francis/Payton/Moochie

This is so possible it's impossible to not be possible meaning I think the Rockets will be the Dream team!

    Give me a break!!

Exactly Eminem. Come on, this is just ridiculous. To get Rahim, we have to trade Hakeem. If we get Rahim, we cant sign Webber.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
