while some of you always dreaming the 7th or 8th seed with our current roster, i'd always dreaming about our team become one of the western powers. here are two trades that might make us a contender overnight:

    1. we all heard about the chance of getting SAR; I'm not sure if SAR's the best fit to our team (SF or PF?) but maybe we can make it a 3 way deal involving Washington. the Wizards having a jam in their backcourt: Areanas, Stackhouse, Hughes, Dixon, Whitney, and their rookies Hayes & Blake all fighting for PT. Jared Jeffries is their only true SF now. we send Eddie & Rice's contract to Atlanta for SAR and then SAR+Nachbar to Washington for Stackhouse and Jahidi White. the Hawks gets a young talant in Eddie and the cap they coveted in Rice's contract. the Wizards solve their backcourt jam and gets a star SF in SAR. a line-up of Areanas, Hughes, SAR, Brown, Haywood is much balanced and should bring them deep into the EC playoffs. the Rockets gets the perfect compliment to Yao Ming in Jahidi White and also gets an all star guard in Stackhouse. White brings everything you hope from Eddie: a true banger, rebounding, shot blocking, high %, musle, toughness. Stackhouse could be the 3rd star we need to compete with the elite teams.

    2. the Pacers also have some problems in their backcourt: shorthanded. I read these two articles on realgm:

Barry Moves On; So Do Pacers

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Free agent Jon Barry, a player the Pacers had been interested in as a backup to both Miller and point guard Anthony Johnson, signed with Denver on Wednesday. Barry wanted a long-term deal the Pacers weren¡¦t willing to offer a player of his age (34).
Walsh said he remains confident that the depth issue in the backcourt will be resolved. Veteran Anthony Johnson was signed from New Jersey to back up point guard Jamaal Tinsley. Freddie Jones, a first-round pick last year and undrafted free-agent signee Carl English are the other shooting guards on the roster. Starting small forward Ron Artest also has played the position.

¡§We have players in those positions,¡¨ Walsh said, ¡§and I¡¦m going to get another player in that position. We¡¦re still looking to see if we can add to our backcourt a little more.¡¨

    Pacers still facing backcourt questions

I think they might interest trade Artest for a starting 2-guard and give J. Bender a chance to develop. they'll ask us to take Croshere though. how about Mobley+Taylor+future 1st rd. pick for Artest+Croshere+Jones. Mo and Croshere both have bad contracts for 3 more years while Mo is more productive and has more trade value imo; Artest is also more valuable than Cat so I think it's a fair deal that could help both teams. Jones and the 1st rounder are just throw in to make this trade works cap-wise. after the trade the Pacers got this line-up:
    Tinsley
    Mobley
    Bender
    Taylor
    O'Neal

and after these two trades, the Rockets could be a top seeded team with this line-up:

    S. Francis, Norris
    Stackhouse, Pike
    R. Artest, Griffin
    J. White, Croshere/Badiane
    Yao Ming, Cato

i think that's good enough to fight the Kings and Mavs for the 4th seed in the West (behind Lakers, Wolves, and Spurs)

I wouldn't trade Mobley for Artest straight up and we definitely don't need Stackhouse and Mobley. I think I would rather keep Mobley and his contract anyway.

Artest is a headcase and Stackhouse is a semi headcase although he has turned it around in the last couple of seasons. If we are hunting for players we should be hunting for backup PF/C types and a backup PG.

I can't see Bird making any major trades, esp with AC. He was a Bird pick last time around, so LB must have seen something in him. He also had some pretty good seasons under Bird. I doubt that the guy will go anywhere until at least mid-season at best. I would think that this would be the same with most of the team.....

The Wiz still has to figure out what they have. MJ did a ptitful job of getting them talent over the last few years. He did what most rookie GMs try to do: take on other people's problems, thinking that they will straighten out. It rarely ever works, otherwise Portland would have 6 NBA Chmpoinships. Besides, they know they will suck this year. Why do a trade to get any better? that just makes the lottery pick worse, and this could be a pretty good draft upcoming.....

    I like the trades.

I would rather keep SAR(not that I think they'd give him up for just EG + Rice) than give him up for Stack + White.

    1. Stack is good, but has a problem sharing the ball and the spotlight.
    2. White sucks and I would never want to see him on the bench, let alone starting.

Artest is a cancer, let Indiana deal with him. If the Rockets do make a trade I wouldn't mind at all trading Griffin and Rice for Shareef. Shareef is good, people say he doesn't have position but he still puts up 20-10 pretty much every year, and I'll take that. Washington just locked up Stackhouse to a deal and plan to build around him and Arenas, why would they trade him? If the Rockets can get Shareef, a starting line-up of Shareef, Griffin, Ming, Mobley and Francis and I think that team could finish 5th or 6th in the West.

Actually they MIGHT give him up for that, especially if a draft pick is thrown in. Atlanta tried to dump SAR during the trade deadline, and the Lakers almost got him for next to nothing at the deadline but teams were reluctant to pick up his contract, or were unable to pick it up. Rahim would flourish with the Rocks, and would take pressure off of Ming and vice versa.
