Get any mozilla based browser and popups are as extinct as dinosaurs. IE blows.

some pop-up company ? has got onto my computer and has been randomly popping up the same 3 or 4 ads no matter what site I'm looking at. I've tried restarting my computer but that didn't work. It is really annoying.

I'm even getting pop-ups for ads selling pop-up blockers. Man the nerve of these people!

I second this. User firebird or mozilla. Great stuff. Much better than IE.

I agree with the Mozilla comments. I'd especially recommend MozillaFirebird.

Yep 5.5 or higher for the toolbar to work. Just go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and get IE6. The Google toolbar popup blocker is the best.

I use Pop-Up Stopper from panicware.com with good success.

    red,
I have seen two kinds of pop ups. The most common is Internet Explorer pop ups which most of these programs stop. Another I have seen is Windows Messenger pop ups. My dad was getting these and his pop up stopper program was not catching it. There is fairly simple fix (a change to some network setting?). I downloaded the instruction from his AOL help site, but unfortunately, I cannot remember what it was. I guess that is not much help.

    Matador,
You may want to look at your Add/Remove Programs. At work, I had some Ads By N-Case software installed and was getting a new pop up and an icon put on my desk each day. When I removed this software the ads have stopped coming. Warning, it was not easy to remove. It also installed some Lycos Side search software that I still have not been able to remove.
