Pistons trade Curry to Toronto for Hunter

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons traded Michael Curry to the Toronto Raptors for Lindsey Hunter on Thursday.
Curry started at small forward last season for Detroit, which had the best regular-season record in the Eastern Conference. Hunter, a former draft pick of the Pistons, will give Detroit depth at point guard.
Hunter played in just 29 games last season because of an assortment of injuries, averaging 9.7 points and 2.4 assists. He missed 11 games with a sore right knee, three with a strained hamstring and 39 with a sore back.
The 32-year-old spent the first seven seasons of his 10-year career in Detroit.
Curry, a defensive specialist, started 77 games last season, averaging 3.0 points and 1.6 rebounds. The 35-year-old shared time at small forward with Tayshaun Prince and Corliss Williamson. Prince’s emergence during the playoffs meant Curry was expendable.
Curry is a favorite of new Raptors coach Kevin O’Neill, who served as an assistant in Detroit the past two seasons.

Looks like Chucky Atkins is on his way out, probably for an expiring contract.

Anyone knows if Lamond Murray can still play? I see he had no minutes last year and Toronto has excess SFs now.

I know but is he healed now or was it a career threatening injury chronic injury problem? I think he just turned 30, not young but usually guys like him (shooters) can go another 4-5 years. Is he ever going to a a servicable NBA starting 3 or 1st rate back-up 3 again?--that's my question.

Man, it sure seems that way. None of their moves make a whole lotta sense individually, but they seem to be leading toward something. Joe Dumars is the freaking man (except for the whole Carlisle thing), so maybe something IS gonna happen. Bet a whole lot depends on Darko signing that dotted line.

Dumars has said the contract is done and waiting to be signed (and will be this week or next) for Darko. So, that's done.

Delfino, their other first rounder, is not likely to come over this year, but they covered for that by getting Sura.

The only other thing they're likely to do this offseason is trade Chucky Atkins for an expiring contract. Probably one that plays sf. Chucky complained a bit about lack of playing time and he wouldn't get much more because Chauncey has proven to be so good.

The Pistons are extremely high on Mehmet Okur their second year center. He is the likely starter over Elden Campbell (who they signed because they lacked post offense and some reobounding). Their moves this offseason were mostly an effort to ensure they have the cap room to re-sign him next offseason. And they're pretty high on Tayshaun Prince as a defensive stopper and versatile offensive guy (not a high scorer, but dangerous in a number of ways).

YEP... i gotta agree about Tayshaun Prince... the pistons picked a great guy... my goodness did he save some games... he did some many clutch shots... i know he is going to be a great guy for this team.. and MEHMET... man that guy is going to be something... I just love seeing that guy play... I was always like MEHMETTTT!!!!! when watching the pistons play... The pistons are going somewhere this season... I think they will be the top team in the east and i also think they are going to the finals... They dont have the power to go against a strong WC team but i know they at least can attempt to match up... Its all good... GO PISTONS

If they want Chucky out of Detroit for a SF with an expiring contract, does that mean Glen Rice is headed to the Motor City?
