Before anyone ****s their britches that we used a waiver claim on Wheeden, this isn't fantasy football. Waiver order is determined by the standings, you don't go to the back of the line after claiming a player off waivers.

That only happens when you use 1st round picks on Brandon Weeden type QB's.

Is he that bad? I thought I remembered in his first game he completed like 17 of his first 19 passes?

There is far more to being a competent NFL quarterback than completing a high percentage of passes.

He does have a high completion percentage but they were usually short and quick passes.

He's just insurance, but man Rick Smith really laid the egg on putting Savage on IR.

Instead of getting the chance to see what we have in him and his progress in a regular season game, he's just sitting around.

Add that to the 100 page list of blunders Rick Smith has done.

yeah that does hurt a lot. The mallett implosion wasn't expected but knowing that he is still not a good QB it would have been nice to have competition behind him.

Needless to say, the QB position has been handled poorly from draft, to camp, to season.
