In a way, Cliff Lee. He was terrible sent to the minors, comes back the next year to win the Cy Young. Though Lee had been a top prospect before. RA Dickey would be a good example, though in the NL. Brandon Webb was similar to Keuchel in being unheralded and was an 8th rounder who was never a top prospect, but he was good from day 1.
It wasn't in the AL, but Mike Scott followed a similar trajectory. Went from nothing to a good year in 1985, then a great year in 1986.
true, but again he was an highly touted prospect. Only 5th round, but there was talk of him hitting the majors in his 2nd real yr ('09). (Not counting the 16 innings in '07)
He was pretty good in the minors. He also has electric stuff. I think brandon webb is a good comparison, but dallas had a 4 era in the minors.
Dallas is amazing in how he basically struggled early at AA, AAA, and the majors before turning it around in all 3.
Great day for Keuchel and Houston!! McHugh even snatched a few votes! Yep, third. First AL of course. Nolan would've gotten one in '87 when he led the league in ERA (2.79) and Ks (270), but feeble run support kept his record 8-16. Somewhat surprising Roy never won one either.
Thank god for Keuchel, Altuve, Correa, Springer and the Astros... The only shot this city has of winning any kind of individual or team award.
My B... Stuck in bball mode. Only shot to win a team award , but to be frank, I'm getting tired all of the Watt exposure.
