so what you guys think the player's lack of effort to do anything, even though they gave tons of effort last season, is all on the coach? a lot of defense is effort and the players are giving zero f***s about defense, esp harden. yeah thats on the coach too, but at least ggive him a chance to break out of it.
Morey knows what's going on behind the scenes much better than we do. He has stated publicly that the team was in a bad place. They needed to make a change. Morey didn't just fire McHale on a whim. He took it very seriously and thought about it hard. It was the last thing he wanted to do, but felt it was necessary. I believe he did the best thing for the team.
It seems to me like J.B. has the players' respect and McHale really didn't. So maybe they'll respond to J.B... who I also believe is the real brains behind the coaching staff.
Early, but it doesn't take away from the fact that McHale was a ****ty coach whose only playbook was, "PLAY HARDER GUYS. COME ON." *clap clap clap*
not many fans of this move out there yet. http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2015/11/18/blogtable-fallout-in-houston-after-mchales-firing
i beg to ask why the management offered McFail the three-year contract just a year ago when lots of fans here already complained a lot about his incompetency? Morey is the next one to go. His data approach has a built-in flaw. He doesn't understand that a player's personality makes a huge difference. If you don't believe it, take another look at Warriors and Spurs.
If he lost the locker room than he lost the locker room. That's not a problem you can just fix with more practice.
what if we're reliving what the Lakers went through when they fired Mike Brown so early with such a talented team? Hope not, but at least the players seem to respect Bickerstaff.
Agreed 100%. McHale was never a brilliant tactician or anything, but he was absolutely right that Rockets energy and effort hasn't been there. He shouldn't have to convince NBA players to get back in transition. But you can't fire players so that leaves McHale to take the fall. I wonder how much of this is on Lawson. He's the one who called the players-only meeting, he's the one who got Shaw fired in Denver, and he's the one who people blamed for poisoning their locker-room chemistry by being a passive-aggressive malcontent. 10 games with Lawson as the only major roster change and we're seeing the EXACT same story play out in Houston. That doesn't feel like a coincidence.
Funny how the analysts claim that it was mchale and not James harden who got the team to the WCF but it's harden and not mchale a fault that their 4-7 even though harden had to average 40 their 4 wins this year. Funny how that works
Very curious how the players have a team meeting and the very next day the coach is gone. I think the player that wasn't following instructions was clearly Harden. He has been out of sorts the whole season and pre-season. jacking up threes when last year he might have passed the ball a few times more than this year. Clearly there was a disconnect between player and coach.
Although I always wanted Mchale get replaced.....I do not like the fact that Howard and Harden quit on their coach.
