Uh oh...........I feel another complaint or question coming on, duck.........:D

Jeff, Tim, Clutch, HP...............ANYONE in the know,

WHAT'S UP WITH MY DAMN "LIGHTED" SUPER TOWERS!

I mean were closing fast on "ribbion cutting" day and each time I look to see if any works been done on the "towers" it just sits the plain, a bunch of metal in the just sitting there in the middle of a beautiful arena! This was supposed to be the coolest feature of the new arena...........it would make the place stand out and be unique compared to other dark and cave-like boring arenas around the NBA.

Are the plans of wrapping the "super towers" in "flowing white fabric" and lighting them up still on or have my beloved "lighted super towers" been scrapped too, thanks to budget cuts.

Super Tower wrapped in flowing white fabric (most likely teflon) lighted in white to the right of scoreboard...........as PLANNED
    [IMG]

How and what super tower would look like lighted in colors.........same concept used at Burj Al Arab Hotel.
    [IMG] [IMG]

Its the middle of August and..............nothing but metal!?!

    Oh I love doing this...............

Just one question....................can you read.................or atleast understand the words that are comin out of my mouth.........opps, I mean on the screen? ;)

I specifically placed that last part separate and this time BOLDED IT for things like this. When I mean "not the cones around the HALO of the roof" I mean it. The logo is not literally gonna take up the WHOLE DAMN roof. Its gonna be "Toyota Center" written across horizontally (parallel to La Branch St.) in the direction of the photo posted.

Read my post again and look again carefully at the roof...........especially at the LEFT center of the roof, where the guidelines are located. If you have to, zoom in on it. Its there, you will see it.

dude, the guy was just posting a pic of something he did quickly, followed by an attempt at humor. I don't think he even cares what you're saying/writing.

I didnt see any humor at it. If it was doen out of humor, it pronbably would have showed the Toyota Logo complete with vapor trails err...........blood dripping.

It basicly looked like he wanted to see if the pic he posted would be long the lines of what the roof would look like with the logo. A basic attempt, done after I said where the logo would be might I add. And the words "Finally" make me believe I answerd some question for him. I might be wrong, but I call it like I see it. Tis is how I saw it. I dont mean to get on his back. I just notice how a lot of people now a days dont "look before they post" as it would help in this situation. Look at what was said, then make a LOGICAL guess. Pretty simple if you ask me.

    :)

Yeah, those are definitely the old ones with the old logo promoting the new season.

    They don't look the same.

Ok, I could be totally wrong on this...but perhaps the "video board" in the construction pic is nothing more than some sort of mounting device for the large screen video board you alluded to. The board in the construction pic is literraly half the size of the one in the rendering, which changes the dimensions of the board considerably...The video board in the rendering looks to have a "tv size" dimension with a 4:3 aspect ratio, yet the supposed video board in the pic looks more close to a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio (if that). If they were gonna make a smaller video screen, it would make snese that they would reduce the size of the vid screen in proportion to the one in the rendering, unless: It's gonna be a split screen, half for video images and half for ads/stats.

But still, looking at it, that board up there now looks way to small to be of any real value to fans and passerby. It's so small people prob wouldn't even notice it...And if it's also supposed to display upcoming events (like the Reliant Center Board), who actually would spot it driving their car down the street?! Doesn't make sense if ya ask me. I mean, c'mon! That freaking board almost looks smaller than the one at Compaq Center!

I dont go to downtown much, but where will the parking be for the arena. Will it be mostly parralel parking and people then walk to the arena or will there be some lot near the arena?

JYD, I sure hope your right about it possibly being a mounting device. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.:)

But based on this pic below, which shows electrical utilities and A MOUNTING DEVICE (in the form of support bars) for the small screen, I would have to say that is the final screen sadly enough. Man, I hope I'm wrong.

To all of you architecture freaks, what is the point of having that one column and the outer facade extending towards the middle of the main entrance? It just looks out of proportion to me since the right side is not extending out to the main entrance. It also looks as if it will block the path of people entering and exiting the building.

All I can say is that the Toyota Center is a pretty unimpressive looking building on the outside when compared to some of the newer basketball arenas.

For that coloumn, its actually there for support..............for what was supposed to be a large video board. If a large one was there, it looks impressive. But if were stuck with this tiny sign, it totally defeats the purpose of the design intended. In the design phase two, the fornt design originally called for a covered rotunda. But that was scrapped because the teflon cover of the rotunda (which would have been light up in colors, but now that has been transfered to the plan for the "super towers" I talk about) would block a pretty damn sweet view of Downtown. They figured outdoor teraces on the Rotunda would make for a terrific gathering spot for fans because of the view. So with the Rotunda scrapped, the went for a open semi-circular front that would be like a rotunda. The vid board was put in halfway so passerbyers could see both the events advertisments on the board and the insde of the building itself.

And no one wont run into a TWO TON column. That would be pretty damn stupid. Its dead square in the middle, with two pathways on both sides.

And as for TC being unimpressive, you are WRONG. have you ever seen Fleet Center in Boston. Sorry any New Englanders in the house, but that arena is so damn ugly on the outside, I would sue the architect, which would be Ellerbe Beckett in this case, the same folks who created the equally unimpressive BIG BARN in the middle of no where the Spurs call home. Once again for both buildings, inside looks FANTASTIC, exterior, it SUCKS.

The cardboard box........opps, I mean the Fleet, ugh........

TC will have a pretty striking design. The design of TC is long the same lines of Staples and AAA in MIA with smooth lines and contours crafting a smooth futurisitc design. But what makes TC even better is that unlike STAPLES and AAA, which used metal and plain stucco to clad there exteriors in, TC will use prefabricated brick panels and limestone panels to give the facility a better sophisticated urban look then the plain-jane exterior panels SC and AAA sport.

Honestly, in my view AAA in Miami is tough to beat though. The exterior is cool with the red tinted windows to make the building look like its on fire on the inside and the interior is creative too with the flame ball scoreboard. Coincidently, AAA was designed by HOK, the same firm that designed TC. On my list, I would put TC at 2 behind AAA, but I have to see the final product of TC to be fair. But the scenery and the site of the arena puts it at the top for me. Look at the photo and Judge for yourself.

TC, notice the curvy shape of the building, just like the ones above.

I dont see any blood dripping.

Just a giant RED Toyota Logo on the roof, that's it. No humor in that.

This argument is stupid. You and I both know that he followed that picture up with exactly what you thought would be humorous. I don't care in either case. If you makes you feel better to bash on someone for not reading one of you posts when he probably didn't care in the first place, whatever. The guy was only trying the whole freaking thread to upload his picture.
