“Try to play smart and not pick up any cheap fouls and still be aggressive,” Harden said[/QUOTE]

but it's somewhat unappealing once you get past the "player's coach" persona

OK I respect that you have an opinion. And totally disagree.

Bye, Jones. When DMo comes back, we'll have four shooters and two bigs.

I think Morey would love to have 2Pat or Marcus Morris back.

Scribbling on a board doesn't make a coach great with X & O's. All a coach can do is call out the code word for it. If players need to be shown it on game day, and it hasn't been drilled into them at practice. They're not going to execute anyway.

Micro-managing coaches are bad for players and fans.

You are arguing against the extreme. Who exactly said that Mchale should be a micro manager?

No one said anything about micro-managing, but scribbling on a board? C'mon man.

No decent coach just writes garbage on a board. Some of the best plays come from a time out where an experienced coach draws up a play and focuses on a mismatch. When players become conditioned to being flexible and adjusting to a variety of live situations, the entire coach-player-game relationship strengthens.

Stuff that is, as you wrote, "drilled into them at practice," is the general expectation of offensive and defensive movement/switches. Those are not things that coaches have to spend a great deal of time with during games, but reminders are definitely good.

Even at the college level, guards and forwards need to be reminded, or pushed, to rebound at the same intensity as the bigs.

Xs and Os are important, IMO. It's not an issue of micro-management as much as it is a system of roles that players can follow.

McHale should reveal all of his adjustments and Moreys analytics so people on message boards don't make fun of him.

You people really expect the coach in a media interview that he doesn't want to give bust out a whiteboard, and map out the entire basketball strategy in order to prove to you that he understands basketball strategy? Its not Rocket science. Dwight Howard actually plays, and is then surrounded by shooters... oh and your MVP scoring guard actually starts making shots, and isn't shooting under 30%. Oh and playing harder actually did help. Believe it or not that's a real thing in the NBA.

What do you guys need a f-ing powerpoint presentation?

No coach in the NBA would give a different explanation than this. Who gives a sh#$. Keep this crap to the Fire McHale pity party thread.

I think he is trolling the simpletons who don't understand that this is how coaches speak to the media.

Harden said something in his eye-rolling interview with Bullard. He mentioned that they didn't get enough practice together in pre-season. Wonder if he meant not having DHoward in the pre-season or the team in general? If it's the team in general, it makes me wonder if he blames the coaching staff for the abysmal 1st 3 games.

Feigen was carrying a camera at the time, so coach went to auto-camera-mode. Rookie mistake.

This is 100% true. The board would improve drastically with a little of McHale's medicine. That being said, I think people are actually posting better these days.

I'm thinking if Morey had his way, he would only need an automaton to coach. And maybe he would be right because Luke Walton is undefeated. So maybe coaches are glorified cheerleaders. Maybe an A.I., real-time analyzing, analytical, play-calling, automaton would be perfect.

If we go that route, I definitely want "HARDER" and "CLAP CLAP" modes.
