McHale is a puppet coach. He is only there because Morey can slap his @$$ around like a lap dog. He is basically a Morey lackey and it's about time Le$ has figured that out.

You believe Morey has some kind of coaching skills?

Exactly. This is why Adelman left. He wasn't willing to only do the 3's and layups crap that Morey likes to do. Morey is aggressive and is always in talks for big players but his mentality is flawed. 3's and layups is very predictable once playoffs come around.

    This. This. This. This. This.

McHale has his warts, but he's a competent coach. This team is playing without two rotation players and still in the process of implementing a PG that doesn't fall into the 3&D category. For these reasons, our so-so start to the season isn't all that surprising.

We need to remain patient, get healthy, see who looks like they're ready to be a part of a championship caliber rotation this year and visit our trade options after December 15th if there's a glaring issue or need. This strategy is much more likely to produce a winner than making a head coaching change just for the sake of doing it.

    Yes!

    Les is a shrewd man.

He knows it's time for the Rockets to take the next step and McHale doesn't really have it.

Morley has an outline for he type of offense the Rockets play, sure. Fast pace, 3pt, paint and FTs. But the coach still has to deliver X&Os and plays to get those.

So yes, Morey may have dictated the style. But McHale still has to deliver the coaching. And McHale has adapted the style but our offense remains simplistic, not to mention the defense.

The reason Les never fired Adelman and JVG outside of them being above average to great coaches, is that the Rockets never really had a 'healthy' championship quality roster under those coaches. In fact we almost always outperformed our talent level under them.

But we do now, or very close. And Les hasn't fired McHale. He is letting him know he expects more out of him. I think you'd be blind to think McHale is the right coach to take the Rockets all the way. Just like Adelman wasn't the right coach to fit with Morey's turning over of rosters in the upgrading years. Or JVG's slow paced defensive oriented style in today's NBA.

You need horses for courses, and once you're competing for the championship, respect for the coach, rapport with the players, a HOF as player resume matter a lot less than actually having the ability to adjust and deliver in pressure moments.

Oh no. Not Mchale. He's a HOFer and also a future HOF coach.

Considering how many predictions he gets WRONG, and still has the nerve to portray himself as an "insider", his name should officially be airballholic.

I echo this. If we have a healthy roster going into the playoffs and fall flat on our face then I would expect a coaching change. Smart people understand context and how it effects performance.

Next, we really don't know what type of dynamic our coaching staff has or got much of a glimpse behind the scenes. We are all just playing armchair sports psychologist and armchair pundits. Lots of conjecture in this aspect.

Lastly, I think too many people underestimate how hard it is to acquire a high caliber coach and quickly implement the philosophy and style. Timing is everything.

I don't want this to be struggling by the break, but I'm open to a coaching change.
