The other players can get away because of their handles. Jeremy Lin does not have the handles to sustain that kind of pressure. So what exactly do you want Lin to do in that scenario, just turn it over? Clearly speed was not an issue because Lin is quick. So if he cant use his quickness to break the pressure, what are his options? Again, keep in mind that his handles are weak. He needs to protect that dribble and he needs to at least use his shoulder to shield off the defender. He was too straight up to Devin Harris during that sequence while exposing the ball.
You take the worst 5 game stretch of Hardens career and he has comparable numbers to Lin. That also doesn't take into account that Harden is the entire focus of the opposing teams defensive strategy while Lin recieves little attention.
actually the numbers aren't comparable. similar numbers with MUCH WORSE shooting percentages are NOT the same. harden has to do much more work and take more shots to put up similar numbers since his percentages and efficiency are so bad. these are just facts. you also forgot that teams worry about dwight howard and tywon lawson.
I didn't even drop the name or reply to you for roughly half a year, but nice to see you mentioning me.
Lin clearly has a problem with the ballhawking defenders, but backing in across the length of the entire court would be even slower, and he was already being slowed significantly in getting them into their offense. Interestingly, their backup backup point was having similar problems getting them into their offense against Harris when they tried him out briefly. They're going to have to come up with some ways to deal with that.
And this doesn't even have to do anything with what I've said, your McGrady and Lin obsession is getting absurd.
The instance I am talking about was not about the entire court. He was already across the half court line. He had problem just getting from the half court line to the right of the court where he wanted to set up or a play or hand off the ball. The other option would have been to bring a big over for a pick. My point was, something needed to be done because Lin looked like he was stuck on an island. If I am Clifford, I would not let him handle the ball against that kind of pressure. The only ball handler on that team that can beat that kind of press is Kemba.
You want to pull up the post history between you and me? Was it a discussion about harden or mchale or hakeem between us? Or even lin? You really want me to find all your replies? Just say when johhny ringo
Still doesn't change anything I've said. I like how you never read what I write and come up with completely irrelevant stuff. The last argument we had was me saying I think Lin could maybe find a niche under the right coach and situation. I never said Lin was good in the past but you inexplicably came up with a Lin playoff history sheet and said I wanted facts, Lin sucks, etc. All that while I never said Lin was good, didn't defend him and didn't ask for facts. You create your own arguments that don't have anything to do with what the other person actually says.
In all fairness the first one , in which Kobe got mad was ordered by Byron Scott not to foul into the shot clock was down to 10 seconds. Kobe should be getting angry at B.S. I remember that game.
Look real close and you can see that Lin keeps looking at B.S. on the sideline because he really wanted to foul but hey he's not the coach.
tinman is right...working for a bigger purpose. You are misplaced in this thread, like this thread is about reason. Yung-T ... big fan of yours. But, not the right thread for talking basketball. There are trolls ... abouts. Don't let them get ya.
Let's break it down: So playoff history is IRRELEVANT?? 1. Every team's goal is to win the NBA championship, which only happens in the playoff 2. As a ROCKETS FAN, "you" have witnessed his playoff performance for 2 years 3. the statistics I posted are FACTS. For a PLAYOFF TEAM, nobody wants a point guard who CAN'T PLAY POINT GUARD 4. Niche coaching? You mean D'Antoni? Let's see the coaches Lin as played for: 1. D' Antoni 2. McHale 3. Scott 4. Clifford We're not even including Golden State where he was cut. The only coach he was 'successful' with was D'Antoni, who only put him in cause all his players were hurt. They won what? 7 games under his streak? That's not an entire season of 82 regular season games. D'Antoni got fired. The goal is winning, not linning. 5. Right coach or right situation? The argument here is that he was not in the right 'situation' a. Had Harden in Houston b. Had Kobe in LA well, why does Jason Terry or Pablo play well with Harden last year? Derrick Fisher played well with Kobe all these years The answer is he's not a good point guard or player. A good player can adapt. 6. Turnovers and lack of Basketball IQ. This was on display against Portland in the playoffs, therefore the Rockets could not have him back considering there is no room for error in the West. I don't need to post those videos again. A high school point guard knows better. Anything else Johnny Ringo?
Never said playoffs are irrelevant and has nothing to do with my point. Yes, so? That's not what he's supposed to do with Harden by his side. I never said "niche coaching". Those are ball-dominant SGs that demand an off-ball PG next to them, which is not what Lin is comfortable at and not where he had his best games in NYK. Terry, Pablo and Fisher? Exactly what I said, off-ball shooters or 3rd fiddle playmakers, which is why they were comfortable playing next to Harden and Kobe. And exactly why Lin was unsuccessful, as his best role is a primary PnR ballhandler. You're kinda supporting my own points here, thanks.
Right on brother! Next hornet game we will see Jeremy drop 43 points and 13 assist!! Hahahahahahahaaaaaa
