Nothing to worry on that....he's waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you. If McHale were on the periodic table he'd be "Bromide".
Lawson is a huge piece of the puzzle, and no training camp can prepare you for the live action with 20,000 fans getting your adrenaline pumping. With our read and react offense they don't know exactly how lawson is going to react in live game situations and same for lawson not knowing for the others reactions.
If anybody watched the Portland game tonight, that was a beautiful offense, a lot of movement and passing. Beard and Lawson would be unstoppable in that offense.
McHale been throwing that darts for 3 years. Happen to be gifted with two precision self-guided darts. Too bad one of them sometime require re-alignment but he haven't a clue about how to do that either. In fact, when it's off alignment, he only know to throw it harder.
Daryl firing McHale would mean he's acknowledging he screwed up with the coaching hire. It would make him look just as bad, so don't count on it ever happening. All we can do is hope Daryl can add more talent and that it's enough to win a ring in spite of McHale's poor coaching.
If that were the case, none of the coaches would ever get fired. McHale has a long leash but every leash can only go so far.
FOUR YEARS LATER? Hell if a GM has a coach under them for four years that's a pretty damn long tenure in NBA terms. Plus Morey hired him back when the organization was in a completely different place where they were rebuilding and needed some sort of leadership around that young players would respect. The top choices at the time were: -Dwayne Casey (source of scrutiny the past two years) -Lawrence Frank (already bounced out of two orgs. since) -Keeping Rick Adelman (who wouldn't have been here anymore due to health of wife forcing retirement... best wishes Rick) -and I think Mario Elie (who can't seem to score a head coaching job) might be missing someone, but Frank & Casey were at the top of the list with McHale. Looking back at the options at the time, and how things panned out, I don't think anyone can say Morey made some horrible choice at the time (outside of the CF McHale kill squad). The scrutiny would come in whether or not they should have kept him as long as they did, but there are PLENTY of counter arguments to be made in that spectrum- -unhappy stars -record that kept getting better -improving supporting coaching cast they would lose in firing -chemistry in general that could be affected in shake up -improvement last year in defense showed promise for improvement on the bench -etc. Really the first time Morey could get blame would be for not making the switch last June when the Rockets were bounced in the WCF because at that point there actually were potential upgrades becoming available, but you can still find valid reasons for Morey realizing how close they are, taking the above reasons, and opting for status quo on the bench. That being said.... me personally... knowing Tom Thibs was about to be available, I would have NOT extended McHale, and went into the Summer looking at other options with McHale still in the mix. The national media would have (outside of clutchfans) heavily scrutinized Morey for the move since McHale did have such a great record with the Rockets, but at the end of the day, you have to upgrade if you have the ability. Last Summer might have been the first time they really had great upgrades to take a look at. So long story short, I don't think (outside of the McHale kill squad on CF) Morey will take a hit for the McHale hire, and keeping him on until at least this past Summer. Keeping him further if the Rockets fall back to the last couple playoff seeds, or out of the playoffs this year will bring scrutiny on Morey if he keeps McHale after this year.
As I was saying...... ...and then..... *******! Took only 1:16 to get it confirmed. Off to play the lottery!
Mark jackson is interesting to me... if we're going all in on durant then brooks is the most logical choice imo. I just hope we keep bickerstaff I think he'll eventually make a really good coach here, or somewhere else.
No I was talking about the offensive flow not the win. Their movement, spacing and passing is near elite but they don't have the players we do. But yeah Memphis has been meh this season so far.
