http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-uc-merced-stabbing-20151104-story.html Hmm, no one died - wonder what was the difference? You gun nuts need to get in touch with reality. Right to carry regulations will always have holes. People who carry will not always be stable. People who carry will not be able to always prevent those who shouldn't carry from getting hands on their firearms. Statistics show that guns are rarely used for self-defense and gun-related deaths are a majority % of people who are acquaintances. Meaning, the use of firearms are almost always to kill someone you know or for recreation. Australia is a living example of how a nation flooded with firearms reversed itself and made its country a safer place. Wake up already - advocating the right to bear arms only helps create more violent crime related deaths.
Don't be obtuse. It's obvious what he is saying to everyone but folks who do not support saner gun control.
This shouldn't be confusing. He is saying that a massacre with a blade ended with no deaths. Had the guy had a gun, there would have been a lot more carnage. It ain't rocket science...
I'm not being obtuse at all. I'm wondering if he thinks that every single person that is shot dies. I'm also enjoying how some like to sling insults as they try to make their point.
Maybe the guy with the blade just sucked at killing folks. If they had watched a lot more Michonne from the walking dead there would have been hella carnage.
Lots of people on this board said you'd see the same results in recent mass shootings if the assailant were armed with a knife. He's addressing those comments.
Admittedly, I wasn't aware of that discussion. That doesn't make much sense to me. I'm a chl holder. I'll admit I didn't like it when they lowered the requirements for obtaining a pistol. There should be thorough screenings, but those that are capable should be allowed to have them.
True, many are just given lifetime maiming injuries, and these don't even get reported and tallied. Great point.
I'm sure they're reported and tallied. knife attacks are pretty serious too. Spoiler knife attack images
Spoiler Actually, friends of mine who are pretty active in this realm (they live in Sandy Hook area and were direct witnesses to the horror) say it's impossible to get the full casualty statistics. The CDC can barely cobble together reliable gun death statistics (about 33k per year in our nation), and presumably the number of injuries are far greater, but I truly don't know that it's tallied anywhere. It probably dwarfs 33k though. And yes, knife wounds can be awful and life-altering. That's one reason the government, with apparently no public outcry, forbids people carrying around open blades longer than 5 inches. Kinda ... sensible.
Unfortunately, incidents like this won't do anything. The gun-nuts with money have the ability to brainwash casual voters into believing that they are safer with guns. The only way that we as a society can progress is if we disbanded the NRA altogether and took away the lobbies. Sure, there will still be some gun-nuts around with their delusional thinking, but we can ignore them and not take them seriously.
You guys miss the point here. Dude was able to stab five people with a knife. We should be banning knives now. Why was he even allowed to purchase a knife? Shouldn't this be called terrorism? One of the victims was a transgender black with allergies to gluten. The outrage!!!! Ban white people. Should white people be screened before having children? On the way out the suspect ran over a bicyclist!!! Oh no, the outrage!!! we need more bike lanes. Oh no!!! Did you know that the suspect was denied mar1juana!!! Oh no!! The outrage!!! If he smoked he would not have stabbed anyone and would be free of AIDs. Also he can travel to space by flapping his wings because mar1juana is the all powerful drug. He was stopped by the cops. Oh no the outrage!! He was racially profiled even though he was white. Oh no!!! Cops are evil. Get Quentin Tarantino now!!!
People are being intentionally obtuse. Knife weilding still requires some level of physically overpowering your opponent while a firearm doesn't require any sense of physically overpowering your opponent. A 5 year old could murder a kung fu master with a firearm. It's that simple.
Knife wielding takes no skill or strength. Just make sure the pointy end faces the victim and you are good to go.
Jesus was Neo, but the apostles were like those ravers and that Hispanic general, so they'd have guns.
