If you were the defense team for Kobe Bryant, which 12 ClutchCity board members would you choose to sit on the jury? Which posters would you select if you were the prosecution?
Didn't think of it that way. I have been reading all kinds of posts and just wondered who would present the best at getting to the truth. If this thread goes racist, then the moderator should close it immediately.
If I am picking a defense jury, I want to pick it based upon a belief as to which groups will be most sympathetic as a group. I would want as many black men and women as possible, so I start there. I want men under 35, and I don't want any white men over 45. I don't want any white women under 35. Beyond that, I'd choose Jeff because defense wants someone thoughtful, reserved, and willing to hear the whole case before making a decision. I'd hope to have a foreman like him. I'll have to think if there are any others I would name specifically. You might be surprised. Sometimes annoying nitpickers make good defense jurors, if there is a hole in the case. But in order, I want 1. young black men 2. old black women 3. old black men 4. young black women 5. young white men 6. old white women 7. old white men 8. young white women
for purposes of this case I use "white" to include all non blacks, although I should probably attempt to make a distinction Euros and Canadians would be great because they see our systems as more corrupt than we do, so they would be high on my list, too, especially whites. btw, I know you said here on the board, so I will use that, but I would fall back on the groupings nonetheless.
This really does not at all go together with the rest of your strategy. Trying to think like the defense team sickens me (because working at a hotel myself, I sympathise with the young woman), so I might not be able to see the logic because of that. but.. please explain.
My guess is Jeff is more likely to find reasonable doubt in a case like this. There's not going to be much evidence to convict on and I think most people who like to think won't have enuff to send a man to prison. Especially when the women has so many issues leading up to this moment. She's the only reliable witness and she discredits herself ufortunately. This type of case I think goes 9-3 or 9-2 not guilty... in my book.
I'm not sure of Jeff's age, but he exhibits the traits I would expect to find in white males under 35, therefore a good demographic for the defense. In my view, you want people who will least identify with the woman, and most with Kobe. So first I want black and male, then black and female, (and there are few in any jurisdiction this might be tried, so I won't get more than 2-3 blacks on the jury). Next, I want young white men - guys who can relate to being young in this era, guys who appreciate how women chase these guys. But beyond all that, I want people who are not likely to arrive at a decision quickly, but to ponder every point. I don't want anyone who seems like they make up their mind quickly and always think they're right when they do. I also want people with a slight anti-establishment bent to them, just a slight attitude that those with power tend to abuse it for bad reasons. my goal would be to get 2-3 blacks, 2-3 young hispanic women or men, and as many young white males as I could. don't want any white women on the jury, or any white males over 50 unless they have the aforesaid anti-establishment tenor to them.
I should add that I gave my general approach because I don't know the posters more than superficially, so picking on the basis of knowledge is not an option, although I could make a few picks on a general impression. I realize the premise was to use your knowledge base of posters to pick the jury, but didn't feel I could do that. anyway, it keeps the thread active.
I'd go for the most logical, reflective posters I could find. My list would be MacBeth, Jeff, Gator, MannyRamirez, The Cat, JuanValdez, Almu, Relativist, the guy in Florida who is a Rocket and Heat fan, Aeliott, Batman Jones and HillBoy. I choose the latter because I believe -- once he is charged with the responsibility of doing what is right, regardless of outcome and ruling according to the facts of the case rather than pre-conceived feelings -- he will make a solid panelist.
I'd bet that you would vote for the prosecution if they had the stronger case. I'd also bet you would vote for the defense if they had the stronger case. I've read your posts for a long time and have faith in your judgment based on the facts rather than sheer opinion.
