He never played good defence and I'm certain his former teammates are well aware of that.
In the last year he didn't even play any defence and stopped trying alltogether.

Lawson started out just as we expected - rough on defense, hitting his open 3's when Harden created, and creating open shots for others. The pivotal moment for me was a series of plays where Lawson got past his man, penetrated, and dumped it off to Jones who proceeded to bumble it away and get it swatted into the 4th row.

This team needs time to gel, but those of you saying we need better production from the 4 aren't wrong. Either a floor spacer (DMo can do that) or a strong finisher (Dwight, maybe Harrell). Ty can live in the paint all day but if he doesn't have someone to throw it up to when the other teams' big brings the double, his only choice is to kick it out to a covered man and reset.

As for D - too much ball watching from all the usual suspects. Clint looked like a guy in his 20th (or so) NBA game, Jones was lost. Think Dwight can fix a lot of our problems here.

Cmon dude Rubio? Go somewhere else with that. Ty Lawson is a at superior talent and proven much more than Ricky in the NBA since they both were drafted in the same class I might add.

When has Rubio ever been on a playoff team? When has Rubio ever avg as many assists as ty did last year and the year before? When has Rubio hit over 35% on 3s? Ohh that's right never. Rubio struggles to shoot over 40% on 2s for crying out loud!!!!

I agree Rubio is a very willing and capable defender while also being pretty darn good at setting teamates up. But ty does playmaking even better because he's a viable scoring and shooing threat.

Isn't defense what we have bev for anyways? Because that's the only thing he does better than ty.

I love my fellow rockets fans but damn I we don't have some of the most sensitive sky is falling fans. It's one game!!! I repeat one game whether we won by 20 it wouldnt change a damn thing about this team or what we know.

Ty actually played pretty darn good in the first half 9 and 6 on over 50% shooting if my Mind serves me right. Once dwight and Dmo come back and he gets more acclimated to the offense and his teamates. He'll be putting up 15/8 in no time.

He needs to come off the bench. 2nd unit needs him.

Nah Ty is a superior player to Bev and should make the starting unit that much more potent on offense. Should also help Harden conserve some energy in the long run. Give them couple of games to build chemistry and they will be good.

It's on Coach however to stack the minutes, so that one of either Lawson or Harden is on the floor at all times. That way you have 48 minutes of playmaking.

This is exactly why he should come off the bench. The starting line up needs a defender next to Harden. The bench needs Lawson scoring and playmaking.

Bev isn't a great defender, contrary to popular belief. He is a decent defender, I'll give you that. Also a healthy starting unit with Dwight, Ariza, (DMO?) should be good enough defensively, even with Lawson and Harden out there together. The offense however should be ridiculously good.

Also there should be plenty of lineups with either Harden & Bev or Lawson & Bev on the floor - again it will be on Coach to figure out the lineups.

Watched Mudiay highlights in that game and saw how Ty stood no chance against him on D.

I'm not at all upset with Lawson's play. I just don't think he's being properly utilized. He's simply not a good fit with James Harden, which is not surprising.

It was Steph Curry. He's does that to just about everybody nowadays. Harden and Lawson will work out, but it will take time. Not sure if Lawson would be too crazy about the bench.

I think they will be good next to each other after that get some chemistry down. Let's not forget these guys barley played any pre season games together.
