"You Belong To The City" - Glen Frey (sp?) off Miami Vice Movie Soundtrack "Tequila" - The Champs (or was it The Drifters?) (featured on Pee-Wee's Big Adventure) Ah, those '80's movies and their influence on my musical taste. I dedicate the following to my 80's co-horts : IROC it and ima_drummer2k. Brass Monkey - Beastie Boys
David Lee Roth - Just A Gigolo Billy Ocean - Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car Beach Boys - Kokomo Duran Duran - Rio Hall and Oates - Maneater
I think everyone has heard Baker Street but just doesn't know what the name of the song: http://hurl.content.loudeye.com/scripts/hurl.exe?clipid=002080101010006900&cid=600007 Baker Street has been in a ton of movies. Man, this song was even on an episode of the Simpsons.
Does the sax have to be dominant to be considered? if not I could include some J Geils stuff.. but if so...I would definitely agree that Baker Street is my favorite song with a dominant sax part. I also second DoD's mention of Quarterflash..I saw them with Sammy in 82..and Rindy Ross was great live! also deserving mention..some good stuff from Steely Dan. particularly the sax solo in FM..
Jazz stuff can't count, otherwise we'd have to list 1292 songs before the first rock or pop song showed up. I mean, how can a Stones song compare with St. Thomas? Pete Christlieb, eccentric former tenor man for the Tonight Show band in the 70s. Also did the solo on "Deacon Blues."
