But his salary won't count against the cap if he was cut before the season. That is the advantage of doing it now.
I feel like Boozer would be on the roster long time ago, if Morey wanted him. Boozer was available for a long time and any NBA team showed interest. I think he's in China already, maybe not. But it says something about his defense. And we kinda don't need his offense that bad. We just need a big body who can guard the paint.
Sims. Showed some potential with the 76'ers, decent rebounding numbers. Could be decent for 8-10 minutes behind Capela. Would only sign him to a cheap short term contract.
Completely forgot about Okafor. Last news I heard on him was that he was waiting for doctors to clear him for return to physical contact etc. not sure what the story is with him, but if fit would be perfect. My personal take is that Sanders is the best rebounder/defender on the list, but he's also the least likely to land here, and has his issues/baggage. So I don't think he fits Morey's image of the vet he is seeking. Reggie Evans could be had for peanuts. He is getting long in the tooth (37) but is an exceptional rebounder. In limited minutes with the Kings last season he averaged over 6 rebounds a game (16 minutes a game) and here are some of his following performances when given significant minutes: 17 points, 20 rebounds v Memphis (35 mins) 11 points, 16 rebounds v Phoenix (32 mins) 8 points, 14 rebounds v Lakers (30 mins) 14 rebounds v Denver (23 mins) He played 20 minutes or more in only 13 games last season, yet had 10 games of double digit rebounds. As the fifteenth man on the roster and the third center, we could do a lot worse.
I am open to it, only issue is the inability to play the 5, but would be a good vet for Harrell to learn from.
I remember liking Sims too. Why would Phoenix cut him though? Who cuts a promising 25 year old big? All I can think is either he isn't that promising or there are other issues.
Well definitely not Dalembert because he came to training camp trying to win a spot in the roster completely out of shape. Boozer or Sims. Rather not Okafor because he will likely get injured again and then what's the point?
He is only 6'8" but he is listed as a Center. He is also limited offensively, I still think as a guy that is backing up Capela he is solid option. My pick is either Evans or Sims. Sims is a good free throw shooter, which is something else to keep in mind.
He's not that promising and Phoenix has too many bigs and too many young guards, and they like playing kinda small ball. Gotta find time for Len as well. Keep in mind, players from Philly look better than they really are because a) their stats get inflated because of very high pace and not many viable options in offence b) other teams don't bother at all scouting them or playing hard against them.
Solid points. But I still think he is a good option for the last roster spot. 76% career free throw shooter too
Either boozer or dalembert will fit with the team they both still can produce for a team chuck Hayes is a no no has no game what so ever he sucks ass
