Here we go again. Another year, another 15 posters trying to make a name for themselves by observing an obvious trade scenario and claiming there is insider info they have around it. Sorry Mockster but you should have resisted the temptation IMO, but then again, it does drive traffic to the site albeit not the most intelligent dialog, but it helps the site I guess. ...... Look the Rockets are hard capped, and can only spend about another million bucks in salary. You're also forgetting that half of the people you are rumoring about can't be traded yet because they were just signed. And very few teams trade newly signed players only 2 months into their first season with your organization on a new deal. It happens but its extremely rare. Predicting that one of these guys will be traded much less to one team like the Rockets isn't really setting yourself up for success in the "gamble on predictions for rep" game. Since Joshua Smith wasn't signed I think it is completely obvious to assume they are holding that spot open for veteran to shake loose. Carlos Boozer is no secret, and nothing new out there. The Rockets have had what they've had to offer for sometime and if he was being pursued by the Rockets, and he still remained available its obvious that he would have already been signed. If Boozer isn't already signed, there is probably a pretty damn good reason. I hate to throw water on some good ole fashion tin foil hat speculation, but this one is just too lazy to be fun. At least Plowman knows how to have fun with it with a few 80's pop culture references, or the other guys who create stupid riddles. Not trying to be rude Mockster, but given the history of these types of threads over the past three or four years, I have a really hard time not rolling my eyes a bit. Sorry bud.
Morey is extremely tight lipped about any trade/transactions in the works. And stuff really DOES NOT leak from his brain trust...However the last time something big happened before the start of the regular season(October 28, 2012)...it was for James Harden. There is NO such player available for the Rockets, unless they are willing to part with a core player...ie Trevor Ariza, or Dwight Howard(and ofcourse, James Harden is the team's for sure untouchable player). Secondly, matching salary weight...Not only would the Rockets lose value on DMo, and/or Jones on a trade...they'd have to include a salary balancing player like an Ariza(one of the league's bests current contracts) OR trade a player they signed via FA this off-season (all of which seems highly unlikely). So any trade of FA acquisition has to be a small addition...Yes while the waiving of Joshua Smith and the other dude keeps open another roster spot, whomever does fill it.
We don't anybody this team needs to get better from the inside out. Terrance Jones can get the job done... we need better all around team defense and Howard needs a legitimate post up move.
Howard is at the end of his career. If he ain't got it by now, fuhgetaboutit. Howard just needs to play defense, pick and roll and be happy with the occasional post up.
1. Remember, any trade we get for a Power Forward will be for a significant upgrade. Daryl Morey is not going to just give away some of the depth on this team for a lateral move or only slightly better power forward. 2. Remember we are hard capped. It's not like we can trade 5 million in contracts for 6 million in contracts. We can not go over the apron. Period. 3. If we do trade 3 or 4 contracts for 1 Power Forward and how exactly are we going to re-stock our teams depth? We will not have the room within our cap to make it happen. Is everyone comfortable going through the season with only 12 players on the team? 4. What Power Forwards represent a significant upgrade? Seriously you are going to have to make sure that power forward doesn't make more than 8 to 9 million dollars and then you will have to include either Trevor Ariza or Corey Brewer in the trade to make it work. Maybe you could add Beverly and either DMo or TJones. Never say never but there is very very little chance that the Rockets make a significant trade this season unless something goes very wrong. Right now all of the players making significant money (Brewer, Ariza, Howard, Lawson, Beverly, Harden) are all considered integral to what the team is trying to do this season.
Once healthy DMO starts. Jot that one down. A big name PF will not be sought out at big money. Depth? I can dig that, but I feel TJ is better in a bench capacity and doubt that you could really find a better player for that role. I mean can the team play a week or two before the crazy scenarios?
I wouldn't think the Rockets have the ability to trade....but both Simmons, and more importantly ZACH LOWE keep saying the Rockets have another trade to make. I don't know what they know, but there must be some room to play
What's the backstory to the ugly cat picture? Why is it being posted in every thread these days? There are better memes you know.
The Jones fanbase made a switch from unintentionally ruining threads with their ridiculous hot takes to intentionally trying to ruin threads with pictures of cats. Honestly, the cats are an improvement.
I posted it in a thread discussing T.Jones .... who seems to have a lot of brain freeze moments & heypartner decided it was useful in response to stupid posts / threads .... like the constant Jones discussion , resurrecting two year old threads or stupid trade idea's.
