I do notice it too, I also think it's funny. It's probably because of Dwight Howard and moreys arrogance.
He is spot on about Howard. He should be better than what he is displaying. If you want to win a championship..... you can't cheat the universe.
Well Dwight is just a weird cat. Harden essentially epitomizes the new era of basketball which turns a lot of folks off.
To be fair, our 3 point shooting is definitely an area we should work on. If we can shoot at around 0.38% clip we would be a much better team.
Here's an idiotic grantland ranking for you: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/bayou-citys-beloved-houstons-151-professional-athletes-ranked/ (Can't believe I'll be giving this guy clicks. You were warned. This is what grantland has become imo )
WTF. Did somebody forget to tell him Howard was injured most of the year? Can't believe any Rockets fan would call this a good article. It's not even a good article if you hate the Rockets.
The overzealous and skittish writer did hit on a few obvious issues that I agree with. 1. Houston set the NBA record for three pointers made in a single regular season last year (933). Congratulations, that’s great! Oops, I’m sorry – I failed to mentioned that they also attempted a league-high 2680 of them, translating to a 14th place 3-point percentage of 34.8%. THIRTY-FOUR POINT EIGHT PERCENT ON 2680 THREES. I know this is the way our offense is designed but man we shoot too many threes. When we're ice cold it's very ugly but on the other hand if we're sizzling hot, it's a thing of beauty and unstoppable. Hopefully we shoot a better % this season. I don't see us shooting a lesser amount. LOL We probably break that record. 2. Dwight should be dominating on both ends of the court. I know his post game isn't that good but when you're 3'-10' away from the basket, dude should be money. He's been in the NBA for a long time now so he should know how utilize his skills around the basket better. Plus if Dwight would hit at least 65-70% from the foul line, he would average 20 points a game easily. But hey at this stage of his career, that might be asking too much. Especially since he's injured often these days.
I don't think the Rockets reek of complacency, but they don't seem to be on the same page yet either. Last year, it was clear that the team made defense and defensive effort a priority even in preseason games, and that focus carried over to the regular season and beyond. This year, I don't get that same sense of urgency yet. But maybe it's because there are some new players and others nursing minor injuries. So there may be a few months of feeling each other out before they really start to gel.
Misleading title to his article. It said "Season Preview" but he never previewed the season. It was a very brief REview of Harden's season based on a review of statistics and a Dwight rant. He never mentions Harden's improved defense and in fact he implies Harden's defense still sucks. He never mentions the addition of Ty Lawson or what should be a season of improved health. There was no mention of Capela, DMo, Brewer or anyone else. His whole review is that the Rockets will finish 4th and Dwight sucks. The end.
Y'all wanna know why he's hating, specifically on Dwight? Here is the author: Rob Perez @World_Wide_Wob No tats on my right arm, strictly for tweeting | Staff Writer @TheBigLead | Digital Media @Complex_Sports | Formerly @BarstoolSports Los Angeles, CA That's all you need to know.
I think we're a 55 win team right now even with a healthy team. We were a bit lucky to win 56 games last year when you consider our point differential. We need Jones or Dmo to step up in a big way to compete with the warriors/spurs/cavs and reach 60 wins. The truth is, I don't see it happening. "Our system" is too reliant on shooting contested shots. Harden makes a good amount of them, but when he doesn't we probably lose. I don't think you can win 60 games like that unless Harden has an even better season. I also don't think you can win 60 games shooting 34.8% from 3 at the rate we are. We need to improve there, and really the only people are Harden and Ariza. Brewer was never really a good shooter. Lawson hasn't looked that good all pre-season. Yes, its only pre-season but there's no synergy in how they play. They're taking turns driving and dishing. Where are the multiple ball and off ball screens to get them open more? Where's our ball movement? When you watch the spurs and warriors play, its night and day. I'm a rockets fan, so I really hope they get better.
Lol how does this qualify as professional journalism these days? Clearly written by a spiteful LA fan. That series of Vines he included were the most petty "Dwight Howard Things" I've ever seen. 'Look, here Dwight throws the ball to the referee while he's not looking - and, and here, he fouls Slam Dunk Contest Winner Blake Griffin to avoid being posterized!' SMH
And why doesn't he include the part where Dwight drove one of the greatest comebacks in Playoff history and won that Clippers series? Because he's an LA Basketball fan. That's why.
Horrible writer. He clearly hates Dwight Howard. I believe the news is suppose to be unbiased. Especially when you're doing season previews for every single team. You can't start off by saying 'I hate this team'. Once he states he is biased he completely discredits the rest of his article.
Honestly I'm way passed the point of being mad about the national media hate. I'm at the point where I enjoy it. They hate us, and they are always gonna hate us as long as Howard/Harden is the foundation, nobody wants to see us succeed. Embrace the hate.
