Are these grades about the Rockets close to what it should be? http://www.jtthebrick.com/fanclub/nbafans/article.asp?team=NBA&id=39192 4- Houston Rockets: Houston finds itself in a very interesting position. They are a team built for the present and future. The Rockets are strong enough to compete now, and look to be even better in the years to come. Offense: C+ New coach, new offensive scheme. The Rockets used to be a team of isolations, but will look to run more of the offense through Yao Ming, and the post position. Look for Stevie Franchise to actually be used off the ball more, with Moochie Norris getting more minutes at the one and Cuttino playing a more of a back-up role. Defense: C+ The Rockets should be improved defensively. Van Gundy will work to make this team a real defensive presence, and Yao Ming will get expert tutoring on effectively clogging the middle. Coaching: B+ Jeff Van Gundy is known for having teams with a battling, grind it out style, and an aggressive defensive mentality. This should not change in Houston, but will be somewhat different, offensively, as Van Gundy will have a younger, more athletic, core. Overall: C+ The Houston Rockets are right on the cusp. Not ready to win it all, but not so bad that they cannot compete. They have a legitimate chance of making the playoffs, and could actually upset a team or two, once there.
I don't really know how it is possible to effectively grade a team that has yet to have it's first practic with its new coach?
At this point, exactly the end of this sentence, I stopped reading. You don't bench Mobley for Mooch. Sorry, ain't gonna happen.
Medicority is bad if your best players are old and you have a lot of long term contracts. We have some long term contracts but they'll expire right around the time Francis and Yao reach their prime.
exactly... I'm not too sure who Lyndrick Collins is but to say that Moochie is going to get more minutes and Cuttino playing a more of a back-up role is smoking something.
This should come as no surprise. They've been mediocre for the past 6 years. In the NBA, that's akin to the kiss of death.
Exactly, Damn A-train, I'm so glad you pointed this out, The Rockets have actually had TWO better seasons than their last playoff team. Unfortunately, this is the Western Conference.
This Kings of Swings crap is useless! Well I would say.. Lakers B+ Spurs B Mavericks B- Timberwolves B- Kings B- Rockets B- Suns C+ Trailblazers C+ Sonics C+ Grizzlies C Nuggets C- Warriors D Utah Jazz D- It is going to be very competitive but should be very exciting to watch!! I can't wait... Screw the East!
I love the rockets but they should have been graded alot lower than they were positioned. I don't know how great this team will do in its first season with a new coach. I think they gave too much credit to JVG when he hasn't even had a single game with our bunch. I hope some trades go down before the trade deadline and I see some improvement.
Im just waiting for the season to start. Lots of ppl are saying this and that about the rockets, yet we havent played a single game but some how we are going to be BAD!?!?!? What have yall been smoking.
Moochie getting more minutes, bench Cat , WTF. If this is what the coaching staff is planning, we are done for the season, because we will be playing 16 seconds shot clock, and only has 4 seconds to bring up to the front, plus TO on every other offense.
While I would not mind more of a back-up role for Cat if our personnel was right for it, under no acceptable scenario that I realisticly think can happen, with his play last season, should Moochie get more minutes.
