well i personally think this up coming season,mo taylor will be a diffrent player under jvg. I think he will emerge as our enforcer I also think that he will be a better overall defender and rebounder.

i dont think we need to trade for a pf right now. i think with jvg, we can get the most out of what we have right now. when is the pf/c we drafted this year going to be available? i cant remember his name.

I think Griffin's the guy who can emerge. Taylor is just too unathletic and untalented.

don't ever say anything like that again. ;) j/k. taylor's ok.

    anyway,

it would be nice to trade for a power forward, but it's not necessary. sure you hear people complain about nowitzski, webber, duncan, garnett, malone, etc... but you never hear them follow it up by comparing the west's pgs, sgs, and centers to francis, mobley, and yao.

i was one of the b****ers not too long ago about dawson sitting on his arse, but look at this lineup...

    francis, moochie
    mobley, griffin, hawkins
    piatkowski, nachbar, rice
    griffin, taylor
    yao, cato

... it's not too shabby. it seems the role player thing is panning out well. i see a possible in/out offense and pick and roll opportunities as opposed to that garbage we had to watch last year.

    man, f**k a power forward. :D

Personally, I think EG breaks out this year because he will be pushed to the limit by a finally healthy and invigorated MoT. EG also has an entire season as the starting PF under his belt and is much better equipped this year to hold his own against the challenges in the west. Honestly, all EG has to do is continue to exhibit his defensive game with his blocking ability and he will be more than sufficient as a 4th or 5th scoring option.

Stand pat and let JVG show us what smart play will do with the talent we already have.

Well I sure hope so for the $34,000,000+ he'll be making for the next 4 years!

What are you confused about, verse? Mo Taylor has nice post moves, but as far as overall talent and athleticism, he just doesn't have it. He's not going to explode by or overpower anyone, hence his 40% shooting.

Mo used to be almost unstoppable around the basket before he was hurt. He showed signs of returning to that level toward the end of last year. Yao is the enforcer on defense, he needs someone to pull people off him on the offensive end of the court. Eddie can back-up or wait for the 'bad' man to catch-up, take his choice. We can afford to wait a year before we panic.

Sacremento is going backward; L.A. may be w/o Kobe ever again; San Antonio may be as good, better, or worse, it is hard to tell; Dallas may have moved to the front of the pack; T'wolves have helped themselves alot; Phoenix is unchanged; Seattle and Portland are stagnant; Utah has gone downhill I reckon. On the other hand the Rox ought to have their young people maturing and a new coach and system, so they should be improving this year.

Unless I felt we were fighting for the championship, and I don't, I don't see any real reason to make a trade unless it is very one-sided to the rockets side of the fence. For instance someone who decides they really need Cato and would make a ridiculus
    offer for him.

I expect EG to work hard and show some improvement. This is the last year of his contract. For his own future, he will fight for a big contract.

The way I see it, MoT and EG can't possibly have worse seasons than the last, so no matter what, our PF position will improve.

Seriously. I consider it a GIVEN that Mo will improve on last season, and Griffin can't POSSIBLY get any worse, he didn't DO anything.

I have to disagree with those saying MoT is unathletic and untalented. The man had a nice year last year and if you understand anything about Sports injuries...he had a achilies rupture! Thats bad news so last year he wasnt moving as well do to the tightness and he still had a nice year. MoT is plenty athletic and talented.

If the right deal comes along, sure trade for a better 4, but right now we are much better in current skill and long term potential there than what we have at the 3 spot. Getting a decent 3 with some upside has to be a much bigger priority than another 4.

That said I wouldn't mind a more physical enforcer/hard fouler vet 4 for the min (e.g., Hill, Trent, Oakley).

I wouldn't say that. He's pretty quick. If you look at how quickly he moves on the offensive side you'll know what I mean. He's not that bad, its just that he doesn't really want to play D.
