Crimson Peak. Never saw the trailer just read what it was a about since I wanted a horror movie. Haunted mansion in which ghost communicates. I was thinking Insidious with the hauntint. Well this wasn't a scary movie. This was a chick flick movie.
Straight Outta Compton - 6 . Too long and the pacing just seemed weird the way it jumped from scene to scene with little context about what was taking place . I already knew most of the story but I could see someone that didn't getting lost .. I guess it's a big story to tell being so many characters but wish it would have been a bit more focused.
"It follows"- 6.2/10. It kept me glued to the screen but nothing that would make me think this is better than Halloween. Probably the worst STD you can possibly get. Did the kids even try penicillin?
Tomorrowland: 7.2 Better than I thought it would be as it does deliver on a sense of wonder and visual appeal Low expectations going in, but the movie carried me. I think it was well cast. The kids were great. The world is interesting. The mystery leads you in. The end d in more for kids, but I guess you would expect that out of Disney. Jupiter Ascending: 4.5 Again, low expectation weekend for me. So going in was expecting nothing. The visuals are well done and worth looking at. Too many undeveloped villans, but I thought the slow talking villan and the good looking villian could have been developed. It was just that the plot was idiotic and nonsensical, and mashed together, and the ice skating tech was lame, and so in the end I just didn't get it. However, from the strict standpoint of building their futuristic world I think they did a good job. The main theme of it not mattering what you do, but who you are, is old and tired. They did nothing with that. It was Cinderella with no ending. And no believability at any step. I would however think the Sci-Fi geeks should watch as it's not a total loss.
The Martian - TBD/10 I fell asleep 4 times during. I road tripped from Houston to Dallas and ended up watching it with my buddy at like 9:30 at night. I wanna say I liked it, but I was too out of it to be honest. Sicario- 9/10 This movie was legit. Great story, a lot of action, good amount of gruesomeness. Nothing was over the top, very realistic. I enjoyed this film very much!
Martian - 9/10. really enjoyed it. Steve Jobs - 8/10. Movie really portrayed how jacked up Jobs was in his family life.
Bridge of Spies - 7.5 out of 10 Anything with Spielberg and Hanks involved will be quality and this show continues that trend. I would say it is a very involving story but one that is somewhat less action oriented than I expected. Still a good show, well acted and told a story I did not know.
Just watched Mr. Holmes with Gandalf playing the elderly Holmes. Enjoyed the movie but nothing special, sort of like Sherlock Holmes books. 7/10
well it was a tad underwhelming I thought so too but if you cannot enjoy a classic Del Toro monster or horror flick that is on you.
5 to 7: 4/10 The concept was out there, but a good plot for a romantic drama nonetheless. You have to be really open minded though to not get frustrated with some of the decisions people make in this movie. In essence, it's a very sad movie with some real moments here and there. Unfortunately, the casting of the lead male role was poorly done and the chemistry between him and the beautiful woman just does not feel right. This makes for an already unlikely plot to become even more unrealistic. Definitely not a comedy, though there were some funny moments, mainly provided by Frank Langella (father of the main). Do not expect a romantic drama with a lot of comedy and light-hearted feeling. They really should not label a movie a comedy unless it is one, happens way too much with romantic movies, but also very dramatic movies. This one is quite dramatic in my opion, but still not very different from any other romantic drama where people fall in love and struggle because of it. In the end, the concept for me pushes the needle in the wrong direction. There's a lot of potential, but had the male lead been a more believable one and had he maybe developed a relationship with an obvious other female character in the movie, it could've gone deeper. Now it stays very much on the surface and while you will probably get caught up in it due to a wonderful movie score, most the time you will question why some decisions are made by the characters, but also the director and camera man.
Beast's of No Nation - 9/10 Superb acting, cinematography and soundtrack. Won't give out much of the movie but I had heart aches 2-3 times watching it. Simply amazing. I recommend seeing it in the cinema for the enhanced audio and screen.
someone recommended me 'The Final Girls ' in the game thread, watched it last night! 7.5/10. fun film all around.
The Martian 8.5/10 It was a lot funnier than I expected and it kept me interested throughout. It also gave me a sense of how isolated Matt Damon was when they had scenic shots of Mars' landscape/horizon. Don't want to spoil anything for those who didn't watch so I spoiler'd one thing I didn't like. Spoiler Hopefully this doesn't turn into a science debate but I would of gave it a 9 if it weren't for the ending with the whole puncture my suit/Ironman thing.
