I doubt he can. A big part of James' game is his FREETHROWS. There will be times when James Harden will lull the refs into calling the foul but other times refs will swallow their whistles and he'll heave an errant shot.
Are we sure he is talking about shooting percentages and not the desired measurements of his next girlfriend?
If Lawson can take over a significant part of the ball handling duties, that 40% should be the first number we see come up. Incidentally he was a 40% 3pt shooter in OKC. The 90 he has never done before but perhaps has a shot at given his career arc trending up. The 50...yeah. Kobe Bryant never shot 50% in a single year ever, so there's your barometer for superstar SG who dominates the ball. Then again, Michael hit 50% 5 times in his career and has a career 0.497 FG pct. Just goes to show ya another metric for how far ahead Michael is ahead of Kobe, who just abused usage rtg to approximate Michael's raw numbers.
If he can get the 3's up to 40% then the FG% will follow. He's getting a lot more easy shots if Howard plays more and with Lawson joining. This is the least attention he'll warrant since he got here. Also keep in mind he's improved beyond average expectations every year he's been here. I doubted him that first time he said he's the best player in the NBA and last year he showed he was the best player in the NBA. I never imagined he would have such a season, playing out of his mind and dragging a team almost to the very top of one of the most difficult conferences ever. I'll say I can see it happening, but realistically he can easily get very close and that would be a major feat on its own.
if he goes 50-40-90 he wins MVP and the Rockets will be NBA champs. Not saying we won't win it all if he doesn't, just saying if he does and we stay healthy I can't see any other team beating us
I've read all the posts with numbers to support the claim that this is an unrealistic goal, and those arguments appear sound. Only we've been watching Harden prove doubters wrong since the moment he touched down in Houston. I'm truly starting to believe he can achieve anything he sets his mind to.
still want meyers here, i thought he was the perfect prospect to work with mchale, young works hard plays smart, he even shot 65% from 3 in playoffs, and is a SOLID rebounder. people thought I was crazy when I was saying trade jones for him a yr ago.
So black guys are too busy trying to dunk, and that's why they aren't better shooters? Lmao. Have other interests? Because the only thing Steve Nash ever did was shoot. Oh wait, he's also incredibly skilled at soccer. It's not because they aren't trying. Great shooters work hard, but the best shooters are born. Having a feel for shooting and ball handling is just as much a natural talent as jumping really high is. Lol.
