If you want to try some upscale restaraunts, try : Gumbos on 8th and Colorado. Fonde San Miguel - west side of downtown jeffreys off of Lamar Pagi House on Lamar Also, there is a zoo of rescued animals, but probably better for people with kids. If you can get to Shady Grove on Tuesday night, they show classic movies outside while you sip margaritas...nice. DD
If your not in Austin but still want the famous Salt Lick BBQ, then you can order it from their website. I have done it and it turned out really great. I had great brisket, ribs(to die for), and sausage in no time at all. They ship Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and if you place your order early enough the day before...then it will ship the next day if it falls on one of those days. Obviously, it ships in a sealed styrofoam cooler(without ice coincidentally). That is some awesome stuff. Those ribs kill.
Hell ya. Hamilton Pool is very nice. Also recommend Pedernales Falls, McKinnney Falls, and Twin Falls. All pretty nice swimming holes. If you go to the Salt Lick, make sure you go to the one out in Driftwood. They opened a new one by my place on 360, that is a lame attempt at trying to make it upscale.
Mostly to reiterate, girls love sunset dinners at The Oasis. The food is not really that good but it is probably the most romantic sunset in Texas. Here's a new one though: unlike the strip clubs in Houston, Sugar's and The Yellow Rose always have couples inside. It a downright respectable activity in Austin. And in my experience, wive's will do things when they are out-of town they would never do in-town. THE hottest married sex always takes place in hotels.
New RM95's Girl and I will be frequenting Sugar's everytime we head to Austin because her best friend is a waitress there.
To prove that, just bring a black light along with you next time you stay in a hotel, turn the lights off, and run it over the carpet/furniture/sheets and in the bathroom to see all the spew left behind. LOL
Hmmm. My band played there last weekend. Beautiful place and all but it seemed kind of touristy. And does it always shut down at 11?
Sorry ILoveClutchCity, Oasis would be a must for the two of you. You won't be dissappointed unless you want great food. The food is no big deal, but the view of the sunset makes it taste better. Also, go early to see the sunset(long wait usually).
Best fajitas around and great ambiance at Manuel's (@ 3rd %|& Congress). For breakfast we always would hit a place that had a buffet over at like 9th & Congress with the mural on the side.... help me.... Is it Hickory St. or something?
You mean Hickory Street Bar & Grill? I've been there many times, but just to drink. Is their food pretty good then?
Yes, sometimes they do. And you never know when you might run into George Clooney, or some of the other celebs who hang at those spots when they're in Austin. Might make for some unusual excitement to spice things up. The people and dancers are almost always nice. And I think your lady would get in free.
I might have skimed over it, but has anyone said camels hole? If you live in Houston, and are looking to become one with nature. Check this place out. Just don't go during the dry season.
Thanks for all the suggestions . We will check out the oasis and the strip clubs for sure. My lady would loves that kind of stuff. Do I need to get reservations at the Oasis or do they even take res. Thanks again all.
I don't think they take reservations. Also, it won't really matter where you sit in the resturant, they are all good seats for seeing the sunset if you are outside.
