Now that you just mentioned a Heart of a Champion Glynch. Who was the Rockets player last season who started the run and brought them back from the brink of elimination against the Clippers in Game 6?
TJ struggles finishing around the rim. He has great moves all the way up to the point of release, and then the ball just rarely goes in. He is so athletic for a big man I wish he could just slow it down a hair to regain some balance before release to hone in on the basket. It kills me when he misses so many layup type shots. Sometimes I wish he would just try to dunk it all the time instead of attempting a short shot.
PREEEEEEESEEEEAAASONNNNN!!!!! Bring down your expectation. Can't believe how so many are tripping off of a preseason game in which Harden, Dwight, Lawson, Ariza, Capela, Dmo, Thornton and Jet didn't play. While the Warriors didn't play Barnes.
Codman, seriously. He folds up when he has to compete against a competitor. Last night, once again, after seeing this for the last 2 playoffs, and in most regualar season games where he has to go up against legit playoff teams....he folded. 2 rebounds in like 24 minutes. Terrence was "the man" on the floor last night. He could've put up 20 shots and he had all the opportunity to beast on the boards. But, as usual, it didn't happen. Dude folded up the tent and sleep-walked through the whole game. If you recorded that game, go back and watch him on the defensive end. All he did was stand around with his head on a swivel and watch the ball fly over, under, and around him while cutters ran past him and rebounders boxed him out. It's plain to see, Codman. I shouldn't have to point anything out. Go back and watch last year's playoffs. He was dismal. Watch the Portland series the year before. He was the same. Watch games where he has to go up against a legit skilled big....Dirk, Blake, LaMarcus, Zach, Draymond, Spurs guys, Thunder bigs. Codman, he can't even keep the matchups against those guys close or competitive, much less win any of them. I wished it was. But it's not. The evidence is all around us and has been for 3 years now. You can't keep denying it. If you were a player that had "heart" you would take offense to someone making an assertion about your "heart" or desire as a player and it would motivate you to improve your game and punk some really good players out there and compete with every ounce of energy you had. Terrence has heard all the things said about him. He's got eyes and ears. But none of it has changed his game. He does as the OP stated. He crawls up in his shell and hides when he goes against stiff competition. He won't compete against them. Sure I can. Go back and look at his playoff performances. And then in the regular season watch video of how he plays when we go up against a playoff team versus an obvious lottery team that isn't competing. No, I'm sorry. This isn't true. He may constantly work out. But he hasn't worked to improve. Because he hasn't improved except incrementally. I'm sorry but it's just not there with Terrence. He's never going to be much more than what he is now, just a bench player. Because he simply doesn't have the drive and determination to make himself into a great player by working on the things that he needs to improve in to be a great player. Greatness doesn't take 5-7 years to happen in the NBA. Greatness comes about by the 2nd to 3rd season the overwhelming majority of the time. There are precious FEW NBA players EVER who became great after not being great the first 4 seasons of their careers. Greatness comes about quickly in the NBA.
THIS. He has a good game against the Suns and very little mention in here, then throws out a stinker as the only rockets starter while playing with guys fighting to make the team and against the defending champions in PRESEASON mind you LOL. The knee jerk reactions start as if they were waiting in the wings to jump on Jones like clock work LOL. It gets old. I'm almost to the point where I'd like to see them trade Jones just to stop these stupid threads in here.
Yes. He had a million wonderful games against trash teams in his career. And he sucked major leagues when it mattered. Also he's no stranger to violence off the court, he was preferred over my beloved DMo for years, which is why I shall not like this guy. Ever. Though he made 2 3s in a row last night, just like in that recent video that made everyone think he has range.
He did play terribly. But with only 3 rotation players available for the game, I'm not sure it's the best test case to be drawing conclusions from. I think it might tell us that Jones is still not a player that will put the whole team on his back and carry us to the Finals. But playing 2 rookies, a sophomore who mostly didn't play last year, and 5 training camp bodies alongside 3 legit NBA players isn't really enough to put up much of a fight against any team, much less the defending champs.
Well some member will never be happy, they have to always find something to complain about. Right now they don't like Jones, so whenever he has a bad game. They will come on here and highlight that particular game using it as an example to why they want him out of here. Whenever he does good, then they will highlight, "he's inconsistent and his opponent wasn't elite". If we trade Jones, they will find another player to poop on.
Yeah Memphis, San Antonio, and New Orleans are trash teams. He also played well in a lot of other games against good teams, I just didn't list all. But hey, keep hating on, I'm so sorry he beat out your beloved DMO. LOL It's amazing how fans go against teammates around here. smh
Honestly, it's time to stop excusing Jones's play with his age. He's been in the league for a while now. Motiejunas has been in the league for a while now too. Yes, they can improve, but Jones needs consistency in his life which he does not have. When he's on I absolutely love him, but when he's off its dreadful. It's like his head isn't in the game sometimes. Just awful. It's just pre-season though and hopefully he either brings his value up or he actually plays like he's worth a damn.
He's been in the league a while, but how much has he played? His rookie season, he spent a lot of time in the D-League. His 2nd season, he became the starter alongside Dwight and did ok. His 3rd season was an injury-riddled nightmare in which he missed more than half the games. It's hard to judge his performance when he's has such an up-and-down first 3 years.
great another TJ/Dmo thread again with exact same conversations. The regular season can't come soon enough
