Anyone know any good cheap dialup internet service in Houston?

My sister wants to get connected to the internet as cheaply as possible and since I've been a broadband user for several years now, I'm not sure where to start. Any suggestions? Thanks.

EV1 is da bomb. I've got dial up at home because I've got a fast connection at work.

did I really just say "da bomb"?

If you get Cable Modem through Earthlink, you can get dial up for free. That doesn't answer your question but it may help someone else.

And that's what I'm all about. Helping people.

same goes for Road Runner customers

at least through the end of the year

after that, they will be charging money per min to use their dial-up connection

Um...if you get a cable modem, why would you want to use dial up?

For some reason, the place I work at uses high-speed connection but we have to use dial-up to process Medicaid requests.

I do at home. I don't surf the net at home that much. No need to shell out dollars for a broadband. I can download anything large at work.

And you don't need a broadband to post on this bbs, unless, of course, you want to see the YoYao pix. :D

If you're a low usage surfer, 10 or so hours a month, sign up for Netzero. I usually surf via my company's ISP from home, but as a backup, I use Netzero.

Otherwise, see if Joi is available there....

I am a Earthlink Cable user, but it seems a little shady to let my sister use my backup Earthlink dialup account. I told her to go with Everyone's Internet. Thanks for your advice.

Once this guy who worked at EV1 hooked me up with an account and a password for free. I never really needed it but it was still nice.

EV1 kicks sack. I love it. I've had it since the thirties. My one complaint has nada to do with Ev1. My original email account, chancellor@ev1.net, is now a worthless piece of **** because it gets 10 to 100 spamails per day. And that sux because it's a great email name. You know, being my given name and all. Love the 300 megs...love the assload of email accounts...techies are good...I used their dsl for a year or so and that was nightmarish but Roy explained the whole situation so I am no longer bitter. Up until a few months ago I was using rr but kept my dial-up through ev1 b/c of the email accounts, 300 megs, and familiarity. When I can get some sort of high speed out in the sticks in which I presently reside I will keep it.

Thats cool to hear Chance, so you were a DSL customer? I was one of the first DSL techs there (back in summer 2000) and was one of the last ones once our DSL Provider, IP Communications, went under last Feb. You know Roy too? He is a GREAT guy, treats us good, and talk to him once in awhile bout the Comets and his own Stealth team when he is around the tech floor.
