    met Mr. Smith a few times in when he lived in Paris - his son Kevin was friend and classmate.

    at the time i didn't realise who he was & what he represented, i only knew that he and Kevin's mom would SMOKE all the participating parents at our school's annual Olympics.

    Kevin was no slouch either, he was placed in heats vs the high-schoolers while in 6th grade. Came in 2nd to my brother in most events.

    I never knew any of this, especially that it had such repercussions for the guy back in Australia.

    The photo of the two Americans carrying his casket really gave me the feels, I'll admit it.

    Even after all these years, it's like seeing that pic for the first time. I never knew that the little round white badge on the jackets had any significance.
