Yeah, having Ariza, Brewer and Beverley is just a horrible set of perimiter defenders.

Why does everyone forget about Thornton?

Capela gets all the backup 5 minutes unless he's either ineffective, gets in foul trouble, or is injured.

    Dwight 30-32
    Capela 14-18
    DMo 30-32 when healthy

The other 14-18 big man minutes will be split between Terrence and the swing men.

This is what will happen if everybody is healthy before trades are made.

    Once everyone is healthy

    Lawson (30) / Bev (18)
    Harden (34) / Bev (6) / Brewer (8)
    Ariza (30) / Brewer (18)
    DMo (22) / TJ (20) / Ariza (6)
    Howard (30) / Capela (18))

It is utter speculation that Coach was asked about GSW. Rockets have talked in the past about small ball helping offense more than the lose on defense hurts (granted, I am utter speculating Rockets were referring to when the backup 4s are in). Rockets have added Lawson and Thornton, and McDaniels will have training camp with Rockets.

^ I'm just not seeing Ariza playing bunches of mpg at the four, when we have so many 4s. Coach has shown more willingness to play jones and DMo together.

I don't see him getting regular minutes.

We should be like the Warriors and not play harden over 30 minutes unless we are losing bad

Let mcdaniels and Thorton both get 8 minutes, there's no point to signing mcdaniels if we aren't going to play him again. I don't see him signing unless he was promised not to ride the bench again

No such thing as promised minutes for a young player. Those are earned unless you're on a team going nowhere

Rockets played Jones and DMo together out of DMo being best center available due to injuries and Dorsey. If Rockets are serious on Howard not playing B2Bs, Rockets must see Capela as a player and it is doubtful DMo gets many center minutes except during injuries, suspensions, B2Bs, and foul trouble. Last year, Rockets did not have personnel for small ball. Previous years, Casspi and Delfino logged more than 4 minutes on average at 4. Yes, Rockets were more willing to play DMo and Jones together than throwing Pablo or Canaan on a PF.

Whether it is Ariza or someone else, I fully expect to see a SF at PF for more than 4 minutes. I'd guess about 8 mpg. Not much time, but enough to punish a team while their starting PF is on the bench.

When you talk about minutes, you have to think in two ways.

    1. How the PT is distributed when everyone is healthy (which usually happens less than half of the times). That is your supposed ideal rotation.

    2. How much is each player actually going to play including injuries. If you average out the total minutes of each player over the total number of games (82 for regular season), you might get significantly lower numbers for the rotation players and more for the fringe players. That is why we need 15 players on the roster even though 6-7 guys rarely play in the ideal rotation.
